Estadio Azteca was an iconic stadium in world football perhaps for the sheer beauty of the goals scored there by Carlos Alberto, Maradona and others.

Also in 1986, as Maradona scored those famous (and infamous!) goals of his, the stadium speakers cast an eerie shadow on the pitch, sun god-like in appearance, seeming to add a touch of divine oversight to that match between mere mortals (+ Maradona).

The US stadia have been outstanding this tournament but this place is always going to be truly inspiring.

Just about every country that plays Futbol has thee stadium like the Brits have Wembley, French have Stade de France and Mexico Azteca but like you I think Azteca is one of the best.
