Cargo plane crashed off Karachi coast

Owned by the Raja's of Karachi ( they have fingers in a lot of pies). Mainly contracted for shipping of fruit, perishables and NFIs.

K2 started in 2018, off the back of failed merger/joint operations deal with the now defunct charter company Eastern Sky Jets registered in Dubai.

Unlike ESJ K2 is a wholly Pakistani owned and operated business. Interesting K2's first aircraft was going to be the DC9 flown by ESJ which failed it's ABC checks.

This is their old route dating back to 2021, they actually secured a new route for China last year and maintained an old route dating back to 2024 for western Asia.
Reading this comment was a bit of an eye-opener/shocker for me. I'd say, Blast from the Past.

I worked for a lil' over 02 Years with Eastern SkyJet & left just when they were (about to) shut down 'round the end of 2014.

At the time when I joined ESJ, they did have 02 DC-9's but at the time not only were they relics, but UAE's GCAA (General Civil Aviation Authority) had told them they wouldn't be renewing their AOC (Air Operators Certificate) with those planes.

Just to be clear, this is around the same time when the B737-200's (Originals) were also done for in the UAE. Both the DC-9 & the B737-200 had the ol' P&W JT8D turbofan engines. Noisy as f#*k.

Those DC-9's were replaced by additional B737-300 & -400. There was also a Jetstream 41, but it was left at RAK Airport collecting dust.

During the 2014 siege at Karachi Airport, 01 of the B737's (operated by Air Indus) was badly damaged.

I think I may have some pictures taken by our Engineers from inside - where there bullet holes & major structural damage by what appeared to be done by an RPG.

Obviously this just around the time when things were getting rocky for ESJ & they couldn't make payments to Shaheen Air Engineering - whom too were going through a rough patch.

Shaheen Air made use of the 02 cfm Engines for their own use & the fuselage of the Aircraft was left to rot among many others.

A couple of years back I saw this...

I'm glad the it was a failed merger. The owners of ESJ were crooks of the highest order.

Brothers...TK, Tahir & their friend Ash(raf). British-born Pakistani scums.

Oh Yes, "Capt." Ash.

The failed DC-9 Pilot.

Hope he burns in Hell.

He opened up another Aviation Company in the UK, after he fled from here. A good friend of mine met him 4-5 Years back. I think its called - Oryx Jet or Oryx Aviation.

I think his Mistress runs that Operation now.

And I am pretty sure Pakistani authorities will be too shy and reluctant to take Americans name here since it may effect so called field marshall's ongoing harmony with Trump.
So Pakistan should instead start accusing the US based on a hunch that they may of been involved. Yeah, because its worked out so well for all the others (Countries) that picked a fight with them.

Before going into the hypotheticals, you do know that there were plenty of other a/c in the vicinity during that period.

Navigational Issues would not cause the Aircraft to take such a steep bank. That would be the result of structural damage.

I know there are plenty of people that have an issue with the FS & Trump friendship. People miss the IK/Trump friendship, but seriously we need to move on from that.

By the way, i'm not suggesting the US isn't capable of such a thing. Mind you, a few decades back the US Navy did shoot down an Iran Air a300 over the Persian Gulf.

But this incident took place close to Pakistan.

But hey..., lets blame the US without any proof. Lets get back on FATF's Grey List. Lets get some Sanctions. All because we don't like the FS & Trump friendship.

Finally, I heard that this a/c was over in Sharjah for some maintainance. Honestly..., I wasn't aware that Sharjah Airport even had such a facility to cater B737's. I know they do have for the a320's.

I know that Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (ADAT), formerly GAMCO did have the facility for B737's & B757/767's.

To me it seems a bit a odd that an empty a/c ferrying back after a A/B/C-Check to go down.

Tragic incident. May they all Rest in Peace.

I think the Karachi airport attack you mentioned was targeted at a local mobile phone company, vivo .
Their imported components storage at the airport was specially targeted, and lots of their stock went up in flames.

True.

And, I'd have to confirm with Aviation but DHL was still operating them up until about 10 years ago. And I rode a 707 for a couple flights. And a 727 as well.

John Travolta still has his 737-300 from 1988, and there are many, many more in service still for good reasons.

Since the wreckage has been found, would it be easier to figure out the exact cause or it would stay a mystery for a while

only the 2 black boxes (CVR and FDR) can shed light on that, unfortunately since all souls onboard have unfortunately perished at sea.
Hopefully they get to the black boxes soon, although it may require a great effort to pluck them from the bottom of the sea if they sank....

They are solid aircraft. Often my choice on domestic flights. In fact, can't remember the exact model but flew a 737 from Santiago, Chile to Panama City, Panama.

The A321nero scares me a bit.
