If my goal is to continue resolving the issue by force, then all previous negotiations were false, any performance I put on television was to make the other side believe in me, all promises were false, and the delay was merely to replenish ammunition.

Ridiculous argument. "The ships would have crossed and there would never have been any need of the strait ever again". Iran would not have lost its leverage by the fact that it can close the strait any time, including if and when its agreement with the US fails. Iran failed that agreement itself by attacking those ships. Letting through whatever ships that are trapped there would not have made any difference to Iran's leverage.

- UN nuclear agency previously warned that attacks near the plant “pose a very real danger to nuclear safety”
“Several areas in Bushehr province were targeted today, including the perimeter of the nuclear power plant, a military base in the town of Choghadak and a fishing pier in the south of the province,” Ehsan Jahanian, deputy governor of Bushehr province, said. He added there were no reports of casualties so far.
It came after residents of Choghadak, little more than 20 kilometers from the Bushehr plant, reported hearing several explosions.
Strikes have previously landed near the power station during the Middle East war.
In April, the UN’s nuclear watchdog, the IAEA, warned that attacks near the plant “pose a very real danger to nuclear safety and must stop.”
The power station, built with Russian help, has one operational reactor and two further ones under construction. Russia evacuated its staff from the site during the war.
Non-profit monitor ACLED has reported four strikes near the plant during the war.
The claim that an attack hit near the nuclear site came amid new fighting between the US and Iran hours ahead of the burial of longtime supreme leader Ali Khamenei on Thursday.
Tehran targeted US allies in the region after the US launched a second wave of strikes against Iran.
The renewed hostilities, triggered by tensions over the Strait of Hormuz, sparked concerns of a return to full-scale war after an April ceasefire and a June US-Iran accord ended five weeks of conflict.
Iranian officials reported that the two days of US attacks had killed 17 people.
The Islamic republic said it had resumed its attacks targeting US assets in Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar, while sirens blared in Jordan – another US ally – where the military said it had intercepted eight missiles launched from Iran.
The fighting came with Iran preparing to bury Khamenei, who was killed alongside close family members on the first day of the US-Israeli war against Iran on February 28.
The Iranian foreign ministry said the US attacks targeted civilian infrastructure, including railway bridges, and described the strikes as a "gross war crime".
US military officials said Thursday's strikes hit approximately 90 Iranian military targets, including air defence systems, missile and drone storage sites.
Iran's army said it had targeted a Patriot missile interceptor system in Kuwait, an early warning system in Qatar and fuel tanks in Bahrain with drones, as part of its attacks on US bases in the region.

i know you mean well, but i think iranian capability leaves a lot to be desired. Plus we don't really know what both sides are upto.
Until yesterday all of its missiles(iran) are getting intercepted at very high rates. They got nothing else. And it will piss off the gulfies too who may decide to retaliate.

But the exact same equation exists, and that is the closure of the Hormuz and damage to economies in the gulf that are vital for the worlds oil market's, investment markets, fertilizer and transit etc are the big hammer Iran is wielding
The U.S NEEDS Iran to stand down otherwise the economic fallout is going to turn into a economic crisis (just you wait and watch)
But the Trump regime does not want to seem like the losers
They also don't want to remove sanctions
They want Iran to voluntarily reduce their missile and nuclear program and even open Iran economically to the U.S
Iran is not willing to do any of that and now has the cards to demand end to sanctions and no demands on its missile program or security
U.Smay have attacked, but what Iran has done is just hit back and the shock to the economic system is what's causing pain

Braving sweltering heat and calling for revenge, Iranians massed on Thursday for the burial of assassinated supreme leader Ali Khamenei in his hometown of Mashhad.
An Israeli strike assassinated Khamenei in late February on the first day of the Middle East war.
Thousands of people filled the streets of the eastern city of Mashhad, home to one of the holiest sites of Shia Islam. Footage posted by IRNA showed the procession en route to the Shrine of Imam Reza, where the assassinated leader will be buried.
With new hostilities breaking out with the United States even after an accord last month to end the war, at least one fighter jet escorted the plane carrying the late Iranian leader’s coffin to Mashhad.
The burial will be the final act in a marathon six days of funeral ceremonies, which have allowed people to pay tribute in Tehran, the clerical hub of Qom and also in Iraq.
Men wore black shirts while women were clad in black chadors, many waving the red flags that symbolise vengeance, AFP correspondents said.
“People here all seek revenge,” said Mohammad Afsharian, 41, a shop owner.
“I don’t know what’s the story with diplomacy and what’s the policy to continue diplomacy but all the people are carrying red flags in a sign of seeking revenge,” he said.

Observers have been watching closely for any signs of Khamenei’s son and successor, Mojtaba Khamenei, who has yet to make any public appearances and was said to have been injured in the same strike that killed his father.
Mashhad governor Hassan Hosseini was quoted on state television as saying he “expects 15 million people” to attend Khamenei’s funeral.
Near the mausoleum, many children were present. Many have come with their families, wearing caps in the colours of the Islamic Republic.
With temperatures hitting 35°C, water sprinklers were used to keep the faithful cool. At the foot of a hotel called Miami, a giant banner showed a caricature of US President Donald Trump with a bounty on his head.
Another sign showed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with a message in English: “There will be blood.”
The funeral was originally set to begin on Thursday at 6am (7:30am PKT), but local media later cited organisers as saying it would begin at 2pm (3:30pm PKT) because ceremonies in Iraq had run late.
Meanwhile, the eruption of fighting forced the closure of the rail link between Tehran and Mashhad, a city located some 800 kilometres east of the capital, although road transport was being organised for stranded passengers, the state rail company said.
According to the official IRNA news agency, Khamenei is to be buried on Thursday evening in the Shrine of Imam Reza — Iran’s most revered place of worship.
Imam Reza is the only one of the 12 Shia imams buried in Iran.
The prayer will be led by Hossein Noori Hamedani, a 101-year-old ayatollah in the Islamic Republic.
Khamenei’s funeral ceremonies included a series of locations that reflect the religious, political and ideological pillars of Iran.
His chief of staff, Mohammad Mohammadi-Golpaygani, had previously said on state television that Khamenei himself had wished to be buried in Mashhad.
Several notable figures have been buried in the shrine over the centuries, including several former Iranian shahs, as well as former Ebrahim Raisi, who died in a helicopter crash in 2024.
Iran hopes the ceremony will project strength and unity following the Middle East war, and six months after a crackdown on anti-government protests.
“We are here for the sake of our martyred leader, Seyyed Ali Khamenei, for Iran, or my country, for my beliefs, for Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, for the existence of Iran that ages for millennia and had thousands of years of civilisation,” said shop owner Afsharian.
Khamenei will be buried with his infant granddaughter, son-in-law, daughter and Mojtaba Khamenei’s wife Zahra Haddad Adel, who were all killed in the February 28 strikes.
