WC knock out stages just have to be played off the leash. Morocco's footballers will be cursing themselves today.

Then again, I spoke to a Moroccan friend today who told me the players were all smiling and cuddling their French "fwends" straight after the match just because they play together in Ligue 1 or grew up together or some nancy bollocks like that. They didn't feel remorseful at all by the sounds of it, came here for a "day out" essentially.

Call me old fashioned, but I want my players to go full tilt aggressive and be actually truly gutted at the end of a world cup match if they lose, not least because their fans paid 10s of 1000s of dollars to get over there to watch them. This social media buddy buddy generation truly gets on my nerves.

Well done Spain. Found a way to win despite Yamal being somewhat controlled. He did still play a crucial part but it's good for Spain that they aren't completely dependent on any one player.
