TF-X / KAAN / Hürjet Turkish Fighter & Trainer Aircrafts News & Discussions

I find it interesting that even in P1, that the tips of flight services have not been clipped the same way the F22 Raptor has, which would helps with stealth from the rear angled situations.

It is a minor detail and probably not relevant to the use case for the KAAN but there is not much else to separate the shape of the airframe at this point. It is the cousin of the F22 Raptor!

Lockheed built the F-22, but the F-35 they didn't clip it either.

F-22 vs KAAN

The main reason why KAAN's front profile is more vertical, wider and more voluminous compared to the F-22 is the modern 5th-gen multi sensor architecture it incorporates in its nose and fuselage

Both F-22 and KAAN have S routing duct to hide Engine comprassor blades from direct enemy radar signals

$120 Million per plane.
But that is horribly expensive. I did some further querying based on your answer and the international export version of the KAAN could be $200 million apiece!!!

A lot of potential customers in the Global South could instead choose the Chinese J-35A which is at $85 million apiece.

You should check how much India paid for Rafales. The $200 I haven't seen that before but it might include the weapons package and training as well, not just the plane itself.

The J-35A is not going to be $85 Million it will be higher, almost no jet is $85 these days, not F-16 not anything.

This is a Heavy fighter, not a light fighter or a medium fighter, and as well there are a lot of features it has, IRST + EOTS, the subsystems like the F110 is also more expensive compared to Chinese engines. I don't know what the J-35A price is going to be but I don't think it will be as cheap as $85.

The specs for the KAAN are closer to the J-20 than the J-35.

KAAN even with F-110 Engine will able to match with Russian SU-57 and Chinese J-20 / J-35

The canopy is wider and the frame canopy lower that means much more visibility than F22.
By the way, does any know the size of weapons bay?. F35 weapons bay it is a bottleneck as its size won´t allow to fit newer missiles like an aeroballistic one (Loral/Khinzal type).

The F-22 is the best stealth Fighter Jet ever built with single piece canopy with absolutely no internal framing or metal support arches

The F-22 has also gold canopy that scatters radar waves to prevent them from getting an accurate fix

The F-35 and KAAN have almost same canopy
the F-35 and KAAN utilize the same geometric approach with a front hinged canopy design reinforced by a structural frame

why would you want to fit an air launched tbm internally when you can engage the enemy from more than 500km

5th-gen Fighter Jets can not carry LORA or similar Ballistic Missiles ( 5+ m long ) in their internal weapons bays

The SU-57 and J-20 main belly bays at roughly 4.5 to 5.0 m long
KAAN has a larger internal fuselage volume compared to the F-35

KAAN can carry 2 x SOM-J cruise Missiles in internal weapon bays
or KAAN can carry 4 x 300-ER air launched Ballistic Missiles on its external hardpoints

No need to carry it in internal weapon bays
KAAN can fire 300-ER Ballistic Missile from 500+ km away safe distance
