2 cops injured in IED blast targeting police van in Peshawar​

PESHAWAR: Two police personnel sustained minor injuries in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion targeting a police van near Pir Zakorhi Bridge near the Peshawar-Islamabad motorway toll plaza on Sunday afternoon, police said.

According to the police, the driver of a police van and a constable sustained minor injuries, while the vehicle itself sustained damage.

“Both the cops have been shifted to the hospital,” the city police spokesperson Alam Khan told Dawn.

The bomb disposal unit (BDU) reached the scene shortly after the incident was reported.

“It was a roadside IED explosion, and the bomb was planted in the green belt [next to the vehicle],” Peshawar Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Farhan Khan told Dawn.

He said the BDU was busy scanning the green belt for other devices, adding that both cops were stable and had only scratches on their bodies.

Peshawar Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Dr Mian Saeed Ahmed also visited the blast site and later met the injured at the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar, who were identified as constables Haider Ali and Yousaf, according to a separate police statement.

The incident comes days after nine cops, including a deputy superintendent of police (DSP), were martyred and 28 others were injured in a terrorist attack on a checkpost in Hangu district.

I seriously struggle with understanding why someone will choose such a life for themselves... like how they can go and kill and then just got killed like dogs. What does such a life achieve for themselves.

I mean you can say that they are brainwashed. But in this modern-age with access to phones and internet. These clowns can easily find the fact that there is much more to life then this. I loose my faith in humanity when I see their (TTP, TTA, BLA, Al-Shabab, Al-Qaeda, ISIS and all other terroriats) faces.

Bhai i am preaching on this forum for so long, take local support from BLA/TTP, they won't last 1 month, I wish that day comes that these locals jo bare honorable aur mardangi dekhate hai, sirf 1 month ke liye BLA/TTP pe focus ker len aur Apne country se loyalty tu Afghan kutta Pakistan mai nai bhoonk sakta. not brainwashed.. its their way of life.. the law abiding and peaceful are merchants, farmers and hard working laborers . rest do smuggling , hired killers kidnappers robbers and religious terrorists..as a way of life.
