In my perfect world, it would be Iran joining this agreement.

It would provide a land and air bridge for Pakistan to counter India.

Saudi Arabia: Financial Power
Turkey: Military Industry.
Iran: Ballistic missiles and one-way drones capability
Pakistan: Nuclear power


This would have caused serious vibrations within the think tank in Israel and India.

However. This will always be a dream.

The Chinese are pushing for collective defense and probably be the only proponents of that ... however as you can see both Iran and Saudis hold many decades of grudges and propaganda that has propelled their thinking and behavior. It will take some time to heal.
And ideally, that would be the best thing in economic integration and rejuvenation of the region as a whole.

It's a good dream and achievable...what choices do Iran have in the near to midterm future ? Not much , she has to climb down from her rhetorics and be part of the regional dynamics....Iran can't play the nasty , badass madman for too long.

There are indeed Pakistanis, including me, who want to have peaceful relations with India but I doubt such Pakistanis think of Pakistanis as the 'same people' as Indians. Maybe pre 1947 Partition, there would be much cultural overlap but the two countries have evolved differently to the point that Pakistanis even mostly look different from Indians, let alone the languages and social norms, which are increasingly different. It is like the North and South Koreans have evolved very differently since their own partition decades ago.

The Pakistanis you speak of in the quoted parts are the followers of a certain political party of Pakistan and that's because the recently diplomatic gains Pakistan has is not done when their Messiah Khan is not the leader--as simple as that!

I don't want to derail the thread but there can NEVER be peace between Pakistan and india. Pakistan CANNOT have peace with a nation that calls for and rabidly believes in the genocide and annihilation of the Pakistani people and nation. As regards to indian, the ONLY thing Pakistan needs to know is how to wipe india out in case of a war. NOTHING more.

Not 'always' a dream. Difficult but possible. The Iranian President's first visit was to Pakistan a day after the Islamabad MOU was signed and in the visit, IIRC, he talked about a 'regional security framework'.
The Middle Eastern alliances and dynamics are rapidly changing since the Iran war. A change in Washington's posture in the Middle East is what's needed and POTUS Vance today will not surprise me to see positive changes in the Middle East.

I know what he is saying about Egypt to join in... which looks good on paper but makes it dysfunctional as well.

Egypt will bring with it more problems than solutions, esp given their attitude. I am not convinced on Egypt tbh, hopefully they are kept out.
