Saudi Arabia will dictate policies and this defence pact will only protect Saudi interests. NATO has traditional European enemies allied together so we need Iran and Iraq to be part of this alliance to be viable.

The last time PDF had this much euphoria was when CPEC was signed back in 2013. Old PDF was debating on how to use the extra toll cash you get from diverting part of $3 Trillion China's trade.

This time it's not even an economic arrangement rather a security treaty because Saudi was feeling a little squeamish after Iran basically bombed them and Iranian proxies are still sending missiles and drones to their oil facilities, ships and more... You're hoping to buy some fancy toys in case India bombs you again, Saudi hoping for man power to fight Iranians and their proxies, Turkey not so far off, bad economy attracted by weapons sale prospects and Saudi money.

Funniest thing is some people expect the Europeans to fight for this using Article 5 because Turkey initiated a conflict based off a random treaty.

CPEC has done WONDERFULLY well. It has enabled the Pakistan economy to prosper and grow to a point where the Pakistan military has the finances to develop a military that can defeat an enemy that is MORE than 7× bigger than it whilst that enemy ALSO had the FULL-BACKING of israel, america, the west, europe and russia.

ANOTHER point regarding CPEC that most miss is that it has massively helped develop Pakistan's infrastructure throughout the country. The Pakistan of today looks FAR more developed than the Pakistan of 2010. Loadsheading has also been MASSIVELY reduced in Pakistan too.
