Imran Khan 3 years in solitary confinement

Upstanding fellow Mr Corbyn. He was treated very badly by the Labour party.

Labour Party, British establishment and media, made so much lies and propaganda against him.

IK’s imprisonment just once again reaffirms, in the minds of Pakistanis and foreigners alike, that Pakistan doesn’t play by any fixed rules.

That people cast, and we can now just says IK was cast, for the role of PM, due to his reputation, was ditched when circumstances changed and his eccentricities became to much for the decision making class to bear.

All Pakistani prime ministers have been given false assurances that they will be allowed to govern out a full term. Pakistani politics just seems a sideshow for the distraction of the nation. This wouldn’t be such an issue, if it were not that globally, this farce give the global impression that Pakistan lacks rule of law, regardless of who is prime minister, and that contract law won’t be honored, investments are not safe, surviving on the largesse of great power and middle power patrons, and hence not dependent on the opinions of the people.

But every time India gets it act together and leapfrogs Pakistan, it creates a pressure in Pakistan to maintain parity, as much as possible, in all things.

IK imprisonment has shifted the mindset amongst many, especially the well educated and those with means, to move abroad and not even consider looking back, which in the long run undermine Pakistan’s ability to maintain that parity with India, indigenously. Something may give on day, especially if India gets it act together, but for the decision making class, if that day is not today, then let that be a future COAS’s and Oligarchy’s problem.
Same with political parties, when not in power they sing songs of the establishment and once in power show their teeth. Nawaz Sharif/Zardari through experience learnt how to make deals but Imran PTI inexperience is what cost them, the international relations are the same, no nation cannot trust any other nation, betrayals one day and hug the other day is how the system works, powerful nations friend nations and then use and dump them. The loss belongs to Pakistan and its people, we need a political party that is patriotic and cares for its people, gives justice to its citizens.

naya drama ....

He just needs to drop anti establishment narrative, apologise for 9th May (I believe that's what the establishment wants), he can then come out of jail or live at Banigala, slowly rebuild his party, give chance to new leadership, bring the revolution in KPK, PTI has been in power for 12+ years in KPK, how many schools, roads, hospitals they built, what about cleanliness, rule of law, traffic rules etc implemented.
IK, must get a deal, even if he has to accept unjust conditions.
Having said that, establishment (should say military establishment ) is an illegal and oppressive entity, but since it has absolute 90% control of the country and IK himself worked with them in the past, it is unwise to think establishment will free Pakistan.
Pakistan can only go down further under military establishment and only a politically savvy, gradual, and sustained struggle can free Pakistan.

I think we overestimate Pakistan establishment power, it's not easy to control everything in a 250m population, or else why would they topple governments when they can just arm twist, why impose emergency when they can arm twist CJ Iftikhar Chaudhary, why support IK against Nawaz Sharif government which led to his dismissal etc. The civilian ruling elite are worse, corrupt, unprofessional and incompetence. The best way forward is for all institutions to work together, draw the redline, respect each other boundaries.

No one has absolute power, some works cannot be done openly with uniform on.
To control Pakistan, military establishment, isi use corrupt political Mafia too. Mind, nawaz Mafia was produced by military establishment,
Corrupt zardari is president on fake seats. SC has been superseded by JAG made constitutional court.
But by doing this they are also digging their own graves.
I now don't care much.

So you telling me establishment has this immense power yet they can't and aren't willing to fix Pakistan's problem.

At this rate they've presided over worst case of societal destruction in modern history, every human development metric proves this out, and there's no end to this nightmare. So any compromises and deals with this evil entity is a self-defeating proposition and I hope every Pakistani gets the same courage and fortitude as IK...

unfortunately he is kind of right.

half my family is in establishment / military / buearcacy and they are deeply entrenched.

the simple maths is if Pakistan run by a true democratic system there will no place for these people...

it is about survival.

What is the reason that the calculus is only this way for half of your family even though you all have the same genes and culture?
