TUCSON, Ariz., Aug. 17, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon, an RTX (NYSE: RTX) business, will dramatically accelerate the production of Tomahawk cruise missiles for the U.S. Navy over the multi-year period under the terms of an unprecedented $22.9 billion contract, awarded as part of the Department of War's Arsenal of Freedom.

This contract follows the landmark agreements between Raytheon and the Department of War and supports the annual production ramp to more than 1,000 Tomahawk missiles and associated support, ensuring a stable, predictable supply for the Navy and allies.

"Tomahawk is the Navy's most important strike weapon, able to target hostile forces hundreds of miles away without ever risking the lives of our sailors," said Raytheon President Phil Jasper. "We are making significant investments in our workforce, technology, supply chain and facilities to dramatically boost production capacity and meet surging demand."

RTX has invested heavily in recent years to ramp production of Tomahawk and other critical munitions, delivering three times more Tomahawks in the first half of 2026 compared to the first half of 2025. With this contract, RTX will increase capacity and collaborate closely with hundreds of small and mid-sized suppliers nationwide to rapidly scale output to meet long-term needs.

Tomahawk cruise missiles remain one of the U.S. military's most proven and versatile long range strike capabilities. With a decades‑long record of operational performance, Tomahawk provides military leaders with reliable, flexible options against high value targets from a variety of launch platforms.

More missiles for Iran. I hope they'll stop complaining now.

Many here tried convincing themselves the US were out of missiles, couldn’t increase production, nor afford it.

Well, over $115B has been awarded in the last month for PAC-3 MSE, THAAD, and Tomahawk missiles.

I think they're just being silly thinking that the largest economy in the world will or has run out of missiles when their own economy is in the toilet.

That's some heavy-duty hopium and copium.

Well we can’t afford it just add it to the national debt and do you think this will be done in a few short months it will take a few years to expand something like that by than he will be long gone and inshallah we get a rational leader whose not suffering from dementia damn last 2 presidents in their 80s and both bonkers

You claim to be an patriotic American, yet, you celebrate the fact that 22 billion US tax payer money is going to waste for Israel's unnecessary wars in the Middle East. Your nation is lost.

All of this while your family and friends can't even afford groceries let alone their medical bills.

Out of curiosity are you the kind of guy who puts everything on credit and say you will pay it down the road

Capacity does not increase overnight. It is physically impossible. In the long run, sure they can increase capacity to 1000+ missiles per year over time but not at this moment. They cannot fulfill their need immediately. You are looking at at least 2+ year period at minimum. Until then the shortage will persist.

The defence contractors will have to build additional capacity to produce these additional missiles. Getting contract is only a first step. MIC won't ramp up capacity extension unless they are starting to get paid for it by the US govt.

So yes, there absolutely is a shortage which is why we have been witnessing Trump TACO every week.

Iran has been bombed out of the Arab World and sent back to Persia. It is now staring at the US on its own border.

Why on Earth would the US, as well as Europe and the Arab World, allow the Terror Republic to survive in its current form when its only foreign policy since 1979 has been to attempt to topple governments in the Arab World, spread its Terror Tentacles, and chant “Death to America” for 47 years?

These are all 7 year contracts, but stocks will be significantly replenished by the end of next year across most of the critical munitions portfolio.

-JASSMs and PRSMS will be fully restocked by end of 2027
- Tomahawks are currently at 600/year at full procurement
- PAC-3s are around 700/year currently with that rate rising to 2,000/year by 2030.

The US is not only replenishing but vastly increasing stockpiles beyond prewar levels.

The US has also achieved all of its military objectives and Iran and its proxies are in a far weaker geostrategic position today than prior to 10/7.

Even 1000 will not be sufficient.

I know several people who work in that very plant. As a young engineer, I oversaw the expansion of that plant as well.

Anyway, the point I am making is the ability to ramp up to that level of production will be a minimum of 3 to 5 years. Maybe 2 to 3 depending on what the incentives are.

The US has also achieved all of its military objectives and Iran and its proxies are in a far weaker geostrategic position today than prior to 10/7.
Newsflash:

Iran still has the capability to fight. Unlike you, President Trump is well aware of that.
