They will have to act otherwise people will lose the confidence on the state Defence institutions.
This becomes especially more important for current Iranian leaders.They have full control on state and their cold behavior will empower opposition within the country.

So some sort of tactical response is expected to get back the confidence of people however,given their history,they will not attack Israel directly.

Russian air defense in Syria is protect Russian bases.

F-35 flying over Mediterranean and unleashing it’s payload or even on Lebanon and Syria border would not be targeted without clear indication of threat to Russian forces.

Russian air defenses don’t protect Syrian airspace or Iranian assets.

Some sort of a response must come after such a henious violation of international norms and diplomacy. You just don't attack a diplomatic compound of such importance.

Some people have suggested attacking and choking Israel bound ships. Disturb the commercial shipping route towards Israel. Perhaps strike Israeli embassy in some ME nation through a third party. There are definitely options to retaliate against Israel in a similar response.

I actually brought this up on Gaza war thread, iran hits f 35 on the ground iran has the capability to do it launch a massive attack on airbases, hit their Air Force bases take out as many air personnel and aircraft as possible, hit as many airfields as possible

Large "Multi Band radar systems can detect all stealth aircraft in flight. This is particularly so when combined with input from airborne radar aircraft and coupled with computer analytics.A tracking plot can be made from these detections. As of yet targeting locks seem still to be developed.That said with a plotting track established a defensive screen of aircraft can be directed to the flight path and combat engaged.

Iran has equipment home grown air defence systems give it to the Syrians. How many acts of war does Israel have to commit against Iran before it reacts? Iran seems to have infinite patience.
