Yes indeed, take Tamil Nadu for example, Dravidian culture sees Cattle as family, banned killing them. Very regulated meat market. Agricultural communities treated their cattles carefully and have for centuries it shouldn't be a surprise why cow meat is banned, it has been for thousands of years. This land is primarily agrarian lands, blessed with ample water and largest fertile plains in the world. North South East West all have a lot of unique traditional festivities that are culturally Indic and celebrated.

Keep jumping from one point to another without answering the question made. I'm denying your inference from ‘there was Steppe influence’ to ‘therefore this particular later practice came from the Steppe.’ Those aren't equivalent claims.

Sanskrit literature developed in India, and it recorded copious amounts of cultural innovations that happened here.

"Now". No it isn't. The issue is cow meat consumption gradually declined and prohibited. It didn't happen because of some religious switching. It came as a natural progression of society.

Kerala and NE have heavy foreign influence although Cattle slaughter was banned in Kerala the rules were later relaxed to accomodate foreign cultures.
