J10CE was purchased solely for air-to-air supremacy in the PAF to offset the Rafale and the Meteor missile, we have not seen the J10CE with any other types of munitions in PAF service, only the PL-15E's. They are a niche force right now.
There is nothing that the J10CE can do, that the J-35AE cannot do and it has the advantage of being the focus of PLAAF development focus for the next 30 years of upgrades and enhancements. The J10CE is a dead-end platform, there is no planned J10CE Block 2 or a J10D on the roadmap and it will start the process of being phased out of PLAAF service to be replaced by the J-35AE.
PAF needs to be a Tier #1 airforce, and the J-35AE will help that.
JF17C Block III / ( and planned Block IV ) can fill in the needs of a 4.5 gen force for the PAF.
J-10CE is a multi-role, even if it was used as a air-superiority platform, it's a matter of adding A2G weapons to use it effectively as a multi-role.
The stealth platforms can do same maybe but they are more expensive, notorious for maintenance requirements, they will fill the speciality niche but will never be the workhorse. Even with J-35, PAF and all other AFs in the world will need 4.5gen, they are rugged, they can carry more, they can be had in numbers, less maintenance, cheaper etc. Moreover, in a long drawn war, they tip of the spears of the belligerents will fight it out in the initial stages of the war, then the bulk of the fighting will be done by more rugged and proven platforms. Russia-Ukraine was is a guide.
