India Q1 GDP Data Live Updates: PM Modi says doomsayers were doomed and India bloomed; GDP grows at robust 7.8% defies US-Iran war impact

India Q1 GDP Data Live Updates: India’s GDP growth for the first quarter (April-June) of the current financial year 2026-27, beat odds and the impact of the US-Iran war to come in at a resilient 7.8%. This is the first full quarter which was likely to have seen a major impact on India’s GDP growth. However, India has retained its tag of being the fastest growing major economy in the world, despite the global headwinds.

Cuts in Goods and Services Tax rates and income tax reductions introduced last year probably continued to boost household disposable income and demand, helping offset some of the effects of higher inflation. Economists, however, believe the recent improvement in private investment is unlikely to last.

Was the IMF also making a false claim? they predicted in June 2026 only.

Also, India's GDP going from $2.04T to $3.8T does not mean India only had ~5.8% economic growth. That calculation measures USD nominal GDP growth, not real economic growth.

Despite any massaging of numbers or not taking into account inflation, this is still impressive growth, no harm in commending India on that. Lets not be like them and seek out small negatives in a big positive

India is doing very well economically despite dubios inflation number.

Why would stats office downplay GDP number with lower nominal growth? Inflation hasn't been that low with WPI and CPI both being quite high.

These sour grapes rant make it even better.

India rupee depreciation and high inflation is why Indian economy is still behind UK lol. Average Indian lives are worse than 20 years ago and all Modi has to do is fake some numbers and they praise them. Even a dog won't fall for fake tricks lol

We have longer life span than america and our infrastructure is better lol. You live your short little lives in absolute filthy slums enjoy!

China's average life expectancy has surpassed that of the United States in recent official announcements, driven by rising longevity in China and declining or stalling life spans in the U.S. [1, 2]

Overall Life Expectancy
    • China: Reached roughly 77.9 to 78 years or higher according to recent figures, showing steady decades-long improvements in healthcare, sanitation, and nutrition. [1, 2]
    • United States: Dropped to roughly 76 to 77 years during pandemic-era declines and has lagged behind other developed nations. [1, 2]
    • Healthy Lifespan: World Health Organization (WHO) data previously showed China overtaking the U.S. in healthy life expectancy (years lived without major disability or disease), as Americans often spend their final decade in poorer health. [1]

Key Factors Behind the Shift
    • U.S. Declines: Driven by lifestyle-related conditions (obesity), drug overdoses (the opioid crisis), suicides, and unequal access to affordable healthcare.
    • China's Progress: Driven by rapid economic growth, expanding basic healthcare coverage, cleaner water, and better nutrition. [1, 2, 3]

Indians are very rich people. Their economy is booming. When people said that they lost expensive planes, the Indian response was that they can afford much more given the status of their wealth.
