India Q1 GDP Data Live Updates: PM Modi says doomsayers were doomed and India bloomed; GDP grows at robust 7.8% defies US-Iran war impact
India Q1 GDP Data Live Updates: India’s GDP growth for the first quarter (April-June) of the current financial year 2026-27, beat odds and the impact of the US-Iran war to come in at a resilient 7.8%. This is the first full quarter which was likely to have seen a major impact on India’s GDP growth. However, India has retained its tag of being the fastest growing major economy in the world, despite the global headwinds.
Cuts in Goods and Services Tax rates and income tax reductions introduced last year probably continued to boost household disposable income and demand, helping offset some of the effects of higher inflation. Economists, however, believe the recent improvement in private investment is unlikely to last.
