Sinwar did expect Hezbollah and Iran to help no doubt but he also proceeded without a full assurance that he will get the desired help. There are also public speeches from him "no blood, no news" implying civilian casualties.

And no one in the world, other than US, are believing the US-Israel narrative that started this latest war. So not sure who you think is getting deceived.

agree with part of it but a tanker that’s within eyesight of Iran and American navy that is far off the the coast of Iran with multiple defenses to counter said missiles and drones be it minutes or an hour isn’t something Iran can overcome so easily unless they are sending multiple waves with no let up but it’s starting to how that Iran isn’t out of the game just changing tactics

Firstly, the managed to target not 1 , but 2 USN ships. So capability to locate, identify, track and target is proven.

The package is possible by first wave of drones to locate and subsequent waves to keep track whilst BMs are launched. Its not easy, but clearly doable

Close calls don’t count unless Iran can back it up I’m going to say this must have been very close to becoming disastrous for American navy

If it didnt happen in the heat of war months ago, it wont happen now.

USA warships can attack Iran without to be touched, like it was proven months ago.

If someday Iran successfully sink a USN warship, it would be entirely due to American mismanagement.

Agree but would have to be done in multiple waves would have to be reach said target with those missiles and drones Mach 4 or even Mach 10 like someone posted but most Iranian anti ship ballistic missiles trace about Mach 4 so let’s say an American ship is 400 miles off the coast of Iran it would still have 8 minutes to prepare so not that easy if it was it would have been done by now but doesn’t mean it’s not possible

Actually there is a much easier way and that might be the whole point of this exercise from Iran. When a USN ship is implementing the blockade by redirecting an Iranian commercial vessel, that is an easy target served for a long enough duration. The next step is to just saturate its defenses. Which also means that the blockade becomes extremely difficult to implement if Iran is seriously targetting USN ships.

I would also question the need to actually seriously hit a USN ship from a political point.
The war in US is not popular, if Iran scores a mass casualty big hit on a destroyer or an aircraft carrier the political support can plummet badly. Or the political support can massively increase to launch huge attacks on Iran (may be even tactical nukes).

The objective is not super obvious.

If Iran can hit the moving commercial ships at 20 knots with their ASBM, then they could target a moving US supercarrier/destroyer at 30 knots as well.

Most likely due the political motivation to not spiraling everything out of control.

Irans just holding back at not escalating to the point where it becomes all out war.

Its just part of their strategic calculation to not let things get outta control where the entire region becomes unlivable and the global economy goes to hell.

I think whatever they may be holding back personally is in worse case scenario of a land invasion that’s what they wanted originally but 20 or 30 thousand Kurds would have gotten slaughtered with or without air support hell I’m pretty sure turkey would have had to help Iran out in the scenario
