Lol, according to your logic if China has only vast military potential yet not realized, it's perfect time for the sneaky Japs to surprise attack China to destroy it before China can obliterate Japan and it has no chance. That's a very logical conclusion giving Japanese full history of surprise attacks in modern times.

The current state of a country army is often misleading. It’s important to watch its military potential. Germany built one submarine a day during WW2. Russia can’t win the war because Ukraine military complex is bigger than Russia could ever imagine.

Well, China as the originator of the Sinosphere civilization, Japan did copy the Sinosphere civilization, but never learned its true wisdom.

That's why they won't consider any aftermath consequence like China.

Some of their ultranationalists have the scenario of the US vs China in their mind.

They wanna drag the US down if any war scenario happened with China, but the US elites want to treat them as the Ukraine 2.0 in order to weaken China.

So both side have their own ulterior motive to manipulate the other side as its cannon fodder.

In the mind of the Japanese ultranationalists, they don't want to keep acting as the slaves of the US, nor they want to see a rising China becoming its new master.

So they need to drag both US and China into a war.

I think about 50% Japanese cultures came from China, the rest are Indigenous. They have their own mythology, religion Shinto and martial tradition Bushido. They only selectively learn Chinese philosophies and cultures. For example, Japs never learn and value the first attribute of Confucianism humane benevolence, but emphasize other Confucian qualities such as loyalty, courage and knowledge. So, Japs are incomplete Confucians and can be said never truly absorbed the essence of Chinese wisdoms in some sense. That explains why the Jap Army collectively behaved such savagely in WW II and others wars in China.

People are allowed to discuss about Japanese matters as natural continuation of the discussion either it's favorable or unfavorable to Japan, but based on facts.
