Problem is the Houthis are a bit like the Afghans
Thick as shit tribal numbskulls at heart
So beyond that thick as shit tribal thinking they don't see anything or have a real plan beyond bravado
And now they are yapping at Pakistan, Turkey and others..when the idiots should focus on Israel and not antagonize Saudi
It is a fair analogy, though Iranian friends may feel offended at these harsh truths.
The Houthis appatently have a "non-aggression" pact with USA, (as per Trump, so maybe take it with a pinch of salt).
If true, herein lies the problem as I see it.
They signal "localised conflict only" (N.B. remember what Talibs used to tell us - "saar we only are concerned about Afghanistan and Afghan interests...but yes, we harbour Al Qaeda and TTP who are guests saar"). To an extent, it can be argued that they do indeed stay locally concerned in Yemen.
But they reference the usual global ummah project (Palestine) when condemning a smorgasbord assortment of "enemies" or "rivals", and even firing against more widely placed enemies.
The obvious contradiction in their reasoning arises when they fire missiles at Riyadh, citing the defence of Palestinian interests as their justification, but in reality they (a) achieve nothing for the Palestinians whatsoever, and (b) seem quick to forgive the very Americans upon whom their economic pressure at Bab el Mandab could theoretically make some conceivable difference to those Palestinians.
And then we get told that Houthis are warriors for all muslims and are not helping Israel meet their objectives.
To be clear, I'm not implying a deliberate alliance with Israel, but through sheer naivety, the Houthis are sinking deeper into the trap that has been laid for them.
