Airliners are insanely expensive to design and build - if they weren't much more companies would be making them.

Agree. Trump himself coming to the airport to greet Xi was a huge huge climbdown by Trump. China has defeated not only the US trade war but has successfully neutered geopolitical attacks like Taiwan, Venezuela and Iran.

Over a decade ago, 'two Americas,' a phrase meant to highlight how divided the country is—wanted to strike China hard But both parties had extensive entangled interests in China. Then as the global public moved to be accepting of China, Putin invaded Europe backed by China, and China lost Italy in the belt and road, lost much of their support in Europe.

If China backed the war, the war would already be over. China would send in millions of robots and drones and combat wolves that would overwhelm Ukraine.

China has stayed neutral on this war from the beginning. I don't know what type of fantasies you are having but no one is nuking anybody and no one is 'backing' Russia. Plenty of countries trade with Russia now just walk into Russian supermarket or mall and see products from all over the world.

I'd even go as far as to say the red carpet Honor Guard welcome was there just to make sure multiple media sources were there recording him getting off that 747. Future Historians: "Wait a sec...they had a manned moon mission project...yet the President was still flying on a US aircraft...whut??."
