The Japanese have been acting weird lately.
China adheres to a core, non-negotiable principle regarding religion: the separation of religion and state, and the rule that state law takes precedence over religious doctrine. The Chinese are atheists. They don't favour one religion over another. They won't permit hindus to dominate over Muslims or to build a temple over the site of a mosque.
I have no problem with this approach as it is consistent.
Interesting details.China adheres to a core, non-negotiable principle regarding religion: the separation of religion and state, and the rule that state law takes precedence over religious doctrine.
There are no exceptions to this rule. Whether it is Islam, Protestantism, Catholicism, Buddhism, or even Taoism—China’s indigenous religion—all are governed by this standard.
Regarding Islam:
China has not altered the original Arabic version of the Quran; however, the authority to interpret the scriptures in Chinese rests with the Islamic Association of China. All Imams are required to conduct their activities in accordance with standardized guidelines for preaching provided by the Association(Deradicalization and Depoliticization).
Years ago, Arab nations in the Middle East engaged closely with the Chinese government. They sponsored numerous "Project Hope" primary schools in areas of northwest China with concentrated Hui Muslim populations (such as Gansu and Ningxia). Simultaneously, they began promoting Arabic language instruction in local primary and secondary schools and heavily bribed local officials to secure approval for these initiatives.
Initially, the central government did not raise an alarm. However, the situation escalated; widespread "Islamization" became apparent in Yinchuan, the capital of Ningxia, with Arab-style architecture proliferating across the city. Extremist sentiments also began to take root. Subsequently, a central investigation team intervened...
This trend was quickly halted and suppressed.
This is the whole story. Today, Ningxia remains home to a large number of mosques.
