As a principle, Chinese is against any country that will collect 2% or 5% toll on any international strait with the passage is guaranteed by the freedom of navigation/transit rights. If they do it on strait of Hormuz today, then other countries Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia will do it on strait of Malacca, and then UK, Spain and Morocco will do it on the strait of Gibraltar, and so on. China is a big trading nation and certainly it doesn't want to see such tolls exacted by any country. Chinese know their national interests, lol.
