Manchester City Verdict Strains UK-UAE Diplomatic Relations

Yep, the Emiratis literally bought their way out. Still, it doesn't change the fact that Manchester City will always be the Premier League's most controversial and hated club.

The Emirati club owners won't be respected anymore. The UAE has lost a lot of goodwill in the UK.
Sorry that doesn't cut it. Emiratis don't care one jot what anyone thinks of them - only the bottom like matters to them. And actually, that is a perfectly sensible state of being for anyone, never mind the Emiratis.

The punishment must be tangible and fully realised, not some soppy "let's hold a banner up at half time to register our disapproval while still paying for a season ticket" sort of bollocks.

I still think they will get the book thrown at them despite their weasly wrangling.

The Emiratis invested in Manchester City to promote their image. Basically, sports washing. Instead, it has backfired miserably. The last few weeks have put the UAE and its leaders under the microscope. Every commentator has mentioned the negative role of the Emirates: how they corrupted the Premier League and damaged English football. There is a reason why the Emiratis started threatening the UK with pulling their investments. This is not what they envisioned when they bought Manchester City. The UAE brand has taken a serious hit. The damage has been inflicted. Well known ex-players and pundits have called out the Emiratis.

I can assure you that City will be looked down upon moving forward. Once a proud PR symbol for the UAE, today a major liability. They will be jeered as cheaters and every win and loss will be scrutinized.

Well. Yes. All true. But how does any of that screaming and protesting actually cause tangible or quantifiable effect upon the perpetrators of said malevolence?

City must be relegated, fined, suspended from incoming transfers for X years AND THEN, Abu Dhabi can do what it likes as "revenge", which should in turn attract further repercussions from UK at a state level.

Let us not forget, Chelsea were punished recently (not particularly severely though) for their Russian ownership. Moscow also howled and complained but UK held firm and Abramovich packed his bags. UAE is nothing compared to Russia.

I think the "threat" from Mansour is hyped very deliberately by zio media. The khassi state can do very little actual harm to UK compared to what Russia could have potentially done. Also, pulling their investments does harm UAE itself too - investment pulling isn't a one way street of pain.

The fans will have the final say in the stadiums where City will play their matches. They will be scolded as cheats. Even if they win the PL, it will be tainted and not celebrated.

I do agree that the British government tried their best to cover this up. British elites and Emiratis are best of buddies. Epstein, Emirati and British royals are hand and glove. The British people are a different breed though. They make up their own mind on issues.

Emirati attempt to sportswash has failed. I cannot imagine that the Emiratis are happy with their club City being scolded as cheats. This has gone so wrong for these Emiratis.

I will agree on one pathway by which this "touchy feely" outcome will cause TANGIBLE harm along the lines you are suggesting - that of players no longer wishing to sign up with brand MCFC. Many players themselves will opt out of a potential move to a club that is "tainted" as you have implied, regardless of whether there is any genuinely applied sanction from governing bodies or not. So MCFC will become severely eroded one way or another in the fullness of time I suppose.

Best part is just imagining Noel and Liam Gallagher grinding (whatever is left of) their teeth in rage.

Absolutely. Only the greedy money lovers will go to City. Those who truly love football and its reputation will stay far away as long as the Emirati owners are in charge.

Haaland will be very conflicted to stay or leave.
