There were two options on the table. One, to carry on as the last 3 years with more and more attrition OR change the situation by becoming more proactive.

Exactly, if you look around the world, every allied nation has find a work around dealing with this cheeto guy, for a country like Pakistan we have seen the best side of US and the worse side of USA, and now we are tilting to a somewhat better side of USA, but it can change any moment. From Pakistan's point of view it was good diplomacy, from handing over the Terrorists who killed 13 US personnel at the start of his 2nd term to now nominating him for nobel prize, he didn't get it!!! not our problem...

Oh they do, and they started working on him from the moment his victory was declared, Pakistan capture and sent that Terrorists who planned the Kabul air port attack that took 13 US soldiers lives, he (Trump) bragged about bringing that Terrorist to justice with help of Pakistan, we got some points and life moves on, it was all that good will that allow us to mediate between US & Iran, it was because of all that we were able to save Iranians ungrateful a$$'es, or else they were sending their women/children to sit on bridges when US was ready to blow every Bridge and Power plant in Iran.
