The Chinese and even the Iranians, given their HDI, are competent regimes that at least delivered on basics (education, healthcare, nutrition, basic services etc).

Certainly have to agree with this on current evidence!

Personally, I am more hopeful for an autocratic regime than a representative democratic one though, for a variety of reasons that do not need elaboration on for now.

It seems like the heavy city fighting of neighbourhood by neighbourhood hasn't happened yet.

Most of the fighting is considered light and on the high ways and open desert skirmishes.

One side takes a hill and the other side retreats to another hill.

Once one side decides to stay put and hold a city or town thats when the heavy fighting and casualties shoot through the roof.

That type of fighting benefits the side with superior airpower however so houthis are doing a more guerilla style warfare at present

Yeah Houthis made surprise swift takeover but after those guys in the southern front cleared their heads of the shel shock they got it’s going to be long grueling fight Houthis are well stocked but the other side has Saudi Arabian Air Force and seems like turkey and Pakistan are about to take the lead in strategy over the war Saudis haven’t been in a real fight in over a decade Iranians turkey and Pakistan all have been party to a war or conflict for years those three are master planners when one plan goes off the rails they have several back up plans

Ok seriously lol I agree about the whole khat thing but all Yemenis chew it and it’s literally their national crop they actually don’t grow food because they make more money on that

It's very common there unfortunately, and many partake, but not everyone engage in it all the time or find it acceptable given it's effects on the mind and society. It's a problem that plagues large parts of their country, but if you're so addicted to it that even your leaders can't stop getting high all the time even when fighting and killing, there is a serious problem.

The problem does not lie with the Saudi forces the real issue is that the Yemeni Government forces and the Southern Transitional Council forces refuse to co-operate or coordinate with each other in combat operations against the Houthis. At times they fight with each other…

The Houthis are supported by Iran giving them decent military equipment. Saudi Arabia is unfortunately very inexperienced at actual warfare and havre little to no intelligence support or planning . Here Pakistan can help. Riyadh. Pakistani’s ran a very successful armed resistance campaign that defeated the Soviet Union and then Nato.
