How America’s Aircraft Carrier Crisis Reveals A Military Decline

America has 11 aircraft carriers. So why is the US Navy struggling to deploy more than three at once? These 100,000-ton floating airfields have long symbolised American military power. But delayed ships, lengthy repairs and overstretched crews are making it harder to keep them at sea. Does the carrier now reveal the limits of US military power?

00:53 – Delayed ships and ageing carriers
02:24 – Trump’s proposed carrier redesign
03:25 – Longer deployments, greater strain
04:50 – The carrier gap in the Pacific
06:09 – The $25 billion carrier group at risk
07:30 – The cost to the wider fleet
08:38 – Shipyard decline and military power

American industrial capabilities is in severe decline. This eventually affects the military industrial complex. This is the primary reason why the Trump administration has given up on the pretense of a military conflict with China.

The US Navy can surge 6 carrier groups during a major crisis.

CVN-79 Kennedy will deliver soon to the Navy. Ford carriers are now launching F-35Cs for the first time.

Neither side wants a military conflict because it benefits no one. Besides, the US is only spending 3.5% of its GDP on defense. During the Cold War, it nearly spent 10%. So there's room to expand capacity if it's needed. Other than that, I find the OP to be silly.

- Nearly 1,400 F-35s produced
- B-21 bomber in production
- First F-47 in production
- Columbia class sub in production
- DDG Burke’s being produced at a good clip
- SpaceX mass to orbit far exceeding anyone else in the world and that lead is about to expand significantly with Starship now operational
- $168B recently awarded for massive production expansion of the critical munitions portfolio

This “severe decline” is a total fantasy

It’s not a matter of what percentage of GDP you are using, it’s a matter of how efficiently you are using it and what your industrial capabilities are. China is an industrial Goliath and its manufacturing capabilities are extremely efficient and massive in scale. The US’s shipbuilding industry is a dwarf in comparison. This is why it’s impossible for the US to compete with China in terms of military production when we peer down the road in 10-20 years.

F-35 production is the only thing impressive. And even that’s about to take a big hit as rare earth controls ramp up.

US naval procurement is in big trouble and even the navy admits that.

DDG 124, 126, 127, 128, 129, 130, and 131. All of these are brand new destroyers. CVN 79 and LHA 8 will deliver next year.
