Ive seen people degrading workers where ive felt embarrassed. I have never treated these people the same and try to blank them. You can tell about a persons upbringing watching how they treat those that work for them.

Or perhaps a more simpler explanation such as the woman was a drug addict and never cared for anything but her addiction. Lots of such cases in Pakistan (and elsewhere).

I don't know the exact laws in Pakistan, if the state can intervene and stop a settlement, and go for the maximum punishment.
Making an example out of therse people is the way to go .

Now the law allows the state to set aside blood-money/diyyat offers and prosecute the perpetrator. The problem is the slow pace of cases in courts. This tragedy will be long forgotten in the minds of the public in 2 months time after which the conversation about diyyat will be back on the table. No public uproar usually leads to muk-mukka and the courts and the police are just fine with it.
