Substantiate that...

The zaidi Imamate remained a state for over a thousand years. Vilayat Faqih materialized recently. A totally new doctrine or theology altogether. The quiet school, mainstream Twelver Shi'i belief still exists in it's native Najaf. Heck, it wasn't a state religion till Shah Ismail made it one just a few centuries ago ... Persia or Iran wasn't even majority Shi'i back then...

However that would be post Islam Yemen... prior to that just over 50 years of Persian rule exists, ever. Even Romans tried... in fact Abraha was a Christian, a slave of a roman merchant and when became the king, was an ally of Roman Empire. In fact, Yemen had no reason to accept Persian suzerainty... they were Christian or Jewish... Jewish tribes ruled their parts.

Substantiate what? Buddy you accept and reject at the same time, you cannot separate and look at things in isolation like pre Islam and post Islam.

"The Egyptian historian Abd Al-Wahhab Azzam believes that the Persians were in fact aspiring to control Yemen within the framework of the international conflict between them and the Romans, and then their campaign to Yemen was part of this conflict to strike the Abyssinians, the allies of the Romans, and thus the happy Yemen fell under the rule of the Persians."

"The Persians allowed Seif Ibn Dhi Yazan to rule Yemen, and then the state of Himyar came back again, but the Persian interference in the affairs of Yemen increased to the extent that Seif was disturbed by this matter. He was sad and wondered how could he replace an occupier with a new occupier! It is said that he expressed his displeasure with that, especially after the Persian soldiers settled in Yemen and married the girls of Yemen, where a new class arose because of these marriages and was named “The Sons”.

You can access other online sources to read about it. Just pasted an excerpt a single link.

Yemen needs to unify their ranks and all their factions into one cohesive group with a single structure and chain of command. They can't have like 5 or 6 major factions each operating semi-independently doing their own thing on different fronts without an overall grand strategy with shared pool of resources. That will only prolong the fighting and destruction even if they manage to turn the tide.
