Türkiye in Libya | News & Discussion

That map makes any pipeline of "oil" to from Israel to Greece basically impossible as neither countries will approve any pipeline from Israel. It therefore makes any energy hub in Israel economically non-viable given the need to off-load and on-load energy supplies, versus natural gas pipelines that can flow from the middle east to Türkiye..

So, they continue either via the Red Sea and the Suez Canal as per now, or go via Türkiye. Even Egypt is not viable given the same "potential" off-load and on-load constraints ( I am not sure of Egypt's relationship status with Libya right now!.).

The short story of how Turkey’s maritime deal with Libya got ratified by the HoR:

Libya’s House of Representatives has ratified the 2019 Turkey-Libya maritime MoU. A major diplomatic blow to Greece, a real setback for the Israel-Greece-Cyprus energy axis, and a clear win for Ankara.

Behind it: Saddam Haftar, who has built close ties with Ankara, has been centralizing power in eastern Libya. Al-Salhin Abdulnabi al-Obeidi, who replaced Aguila Saleh as speaker (7 Oct 2026), used to chair the Turkey-Libya Friendship Committee. Six years of Saleh blocking the deal ended the moment he was out. Not a coincidence.

Also notable: Turkish intelligence chief İbrahim Kalın visited Tripoli for talks with senior security officials right as the Benghazi parliament was reviewing the ratification. Timing speaks for itself.

Israel is very, very 'upset' about the approving of the Turkish-Libyan EEZ deal by the Eastern Tobruk Parliament.

But we dont give a shit.

Greece is also very, very 'upset' and also 'disturbed' about the approvement of the deal by the East-Libya and they have issued a Navtex in that area for a fibercable connecting Saudi Arabia (?) and Crete in the future.

But still we dont give a ****.

Israel, Greece, and Egypt had planned to transport the gas discovered in the Eastern Mediterranean to Southern Cyprus and then to Greece. However, without the consent of Türkiye and Libya, all the plans fell through. Who knows how much cheap credit and equipment Sisi received as bribes?

Why is Egypt against this deal? It doesnt interfere with their EEZ.

Instead, it even makes Egypt's EEZ bigger.

It will restrict their ability to develop undersea infrastructure to connect Egypt to Europe like undersea an oil pipeline as permission won't be given, etc. Both Israel and Egypt collectively, or competitively are vying for new energy corridors to connect Europe to the middle east, and right now Türkiye is in the front running sea with its proposed overland routes.

Sisi is a cuck.

If Morsi was there, we would have had a deal with him and with Libya would be link Syria and no Haftar. The only reason Turkey didn't decisively deal with Libya and had to come to a compromise with Haftar was because of Egypt, otherwise, the UAE would have never been able to compete to prop up Haftar. Sisi threatened to intervene to protect Haftar and that complicated things, so an alternative solution was pursued.

Regardless, I think for now Turkey should leave Libya on the backburner, and concentrate on Sudan. That is the likeliest candidate IMO of a Hard Power victory like Syria.

The goal should be to delete as much of the blue as possible, and Sudan seems like the best candidate. A victory in Sudan will solidify the Red Sea. Make Haftar more dependent on Egyptian logistics, and far more favorable to Turkish interests.

I think its in Turkish interests to set up a naval base in Sudan and even an Airbase. It would serve as a significant logistics hub into Africa and power projections into the Horn.
