I said it long ago and I will say it here again, Khamenei was a KGB agent. He followed Putin's orders. He halted Iran's nuclear and missile programs because Russia wanted him to do so. He handed over more than 10,000 Shahed drones to Russia when all analysts knew war with Israel and the US was likely because Russia owned him. His fatwah against nuclear weapons is not based on Islam, as Islam specifically tells Muslims to arm themselves with the strongest weapons to defend against Kuffars.

Nobody purposefully weakens the country they are ruling over to the point that it gets himself and his family killed. A good and even justifiable idea on paper but even you must be able to see that you don't have the military capability to make this happen. Or if you do, you are holding it back for some unknown reason, which is costing Iranian livelihoods and the livelihoods of many around you. The strategy to turn everyone including yourselves into sandal-wearing brigands who consider "victory" as simply squatting on a rock with a klashnikov in some desert somewhere seems to me to be a self-destructive one. Surely the road to becoming a regional hegemon requires caution and quiet accumulation of strength?
