US Political News and Views

Roughly 45-50% of eligible Americans vote in a typical midterm election, and only around 10-12% donate to political campaigns or causes. I'm proud to be one of the people who do both.

I voted 4 days ago and already got the text that my ballot was received and counted. I've also donated to 10 Senate candidates and 6 governor races so far, and today I'll be donating again while adding a few House Candidates.

I don't donate because I want anything in return. I donate because I care about democracy.

What sickens me is the amount of dirty, filthy, corrupt money flooding our politics. Billionaires, lobbyists, and special interests can dump millions into campaigns while ordinary people are scraping together $25 or $50 because they believe in a candidate. That corrupt money has done enormous damage to our political system. I'm not looking for influence. I'm just trying to help elect people I believe will fight for working people and the middle class.

Meanwhile, as promised, Obama was in Michigan campaigning for Abdul. Great rally, great speech, and absolutely worth watching:

The 10 million is the low end and 20 high nobody knows the actual numbers but the liberal/progressive numbers that they shout thinking it makes Orangeman look bad is 10 million. Let's buy the democrats number as true, 10 million is a disaster and betrayal to the American people especially when they purposely allowed many military aged men who were gang members in the US causing the crime rate to spike.

The border bill was bull cht political optics anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional or purposely ignorant. A new bill was not needed all Biden had to do is enforced what was already allowed and do you know how I and many Americans know this? Because the moment Orangeman won no new bill was passed all he did is enforced what is currently law and the results speak for themselves don't they?

Thank you for pointing how stupid democrats are by not fixing the border and removing a major republican talking point. :ROFLMAO:
Thanks for the reply. The funny thing is you admit "nobody knows the actual numbers" and then immediately start throwing around 10-20 million as if it's a proven fact. If you don't know the number, then you're just repeating what politicians and right-wing media are telling you.

As for the border bill, it wasn't some Democratic bill. It was negotiated by both Republican and Democratic senators. The whole point was to create permanent rules so border policy wouldn't depend on whoever happened to be president.

And this idea that Republicans are always tough on immigration while Democrats are always soft simply isn't supported by history.. Reagan signed the largest amnesty. Clinton expanded border enforcement. Obama was called the "Deporter in Chief" and deported more people than Trump managed in his first term.

Even in Trump's second term, deportations were initially below Obama-era levels before increasing in 2026. And when immigration enforcement started hitting farms and rural employers, Trump himself began talking about protecting farmers and their workforce.

My point is simple, good laws matter more than political slogans. A bipartisan border bill would have created lssting rules regardless of whether the next president was a Democrat, or a Republican.

I have friends who are active duty Border Patrol. Per them, 10-14M is a good number to work with,.
I respect that your friends work in Border Patrol, but that's still anecdotal evidence. They may very well believe the number is 10-14 million, but that's different from having data that support it. For claims of that magnitude, I think it's fair to ask for a verifiable source.

While some people here seem to think Sen. Slotkin's opinions are being taken out of context, the Administration is taking a different view:

You may want to reread my comment. I never said Slotkin's remarks were being taken out of context. My entire point was that the accusation of sedition was unsupported. Those are two completely different arguments.

Trump quickly losing the aura he had in his first term. This is gay however way you put it.

I honestly don't know what's going on anymore. Trump now seems oddly obsessed with talking about the Ohio Republican Senate candidate's ass in speech after speech. Sorry, but that's beneath the office of the President of the United States.
