PAF Conducts successful test of indigenously developed FAAZ BVRAAM

It's a good second tier missile that will complement PL 15 Very well.... it's over own child and that's important.
If it's that spicy and shown in the video where defense experts from around the world will also be to see it(hence not a secret) then why not just tell everyone. What's with the games and riddles? Are we in middle school again?

Hopefully the cost is much lower than importing SD10s for example. Mass produce to lower the cost further and make a NASAM equivalent as a further application.

There no riddles , however there's no fun without riddles ...if there's none then we will imagine some.

Am I the only thinking this!!! FAAZ missile will be really effective against Stealth Fighters jets bc of IRST!
Yet thats not the point of having an IR sensor instead of the usual Radar seeker.
India has no Stealth fighters and won't have for at least another decade.
The point is having the surprise factor.
That was the top tactics PAF used during OP بنیان المرصوص۔
By the time Imdisn jets got the warning for a missile lock, it was too late .
An IR seeker doesn't emit as its a passive seeker, it won't cause a missile lock warning.
However that wasn't the spice I was on about, its entirely something different which is not there in any Air to air missiles being used by Pakistan.

almost as lethal as the pl-15. near resistant to jamming and it gives off no radar emmisions. it increases the area of danger to the foe.

wont be suprised to find it can be fired from a ucav/wingman in the near future.

realistically a pl-12 motor with ir sensor of unknown origin/design.

Now, I think it is for exports.
In Pak vs India conflict, 100 km range is not enough.

If you combine the capabilities of this missile with PAF multi-domain network linked environment with PAFs Datalinks, then you have a very powerful capability where a IAF jet will never know it has been targeted, locked and fired upon ever.. stuff of nightmares!

It's IIR seeker not just IR seeker... there's a difference.

If it’s a passive seeker what are the chances for friendly kill.. does it has IFF too?

True.
But my point was , it has a surprise factor, due to being passive and not active.
No emissions, meaning no or very late warning for the target aircraft.
if it is dual link and more like having IR or IIR, do you think Akinci can launch this?
That can be a reason, as China-Turkey relations are sour. Perhaps they would not have been happy if SD-10 old/modern gets integrated with a NATO system.

Essentially, I cannt understand why a 100 km range!
1. export
2. just the first design test so more modern versions are coming.
3. or some other platform can carry this lighter missile.

A few important points worth noting:

1. As already pointed out by members here, the missile appears to be a long-range IIR (Imaging Infrared) variant.

2. The aircraft carrying it is a Block I (Serial No. 109), which retains the PL-5E as its short-range missile mounted on the wingtip.

In my opinion, FAAZ could be a solution to the Block I's limitations in employing the SD-10A. The IIR seeker potentially provides an extended-range BVR engagement capability without requiring an upgrade to the aircraft's radar or other onboard systems.

Essentially, FAAZ could be viewed as an SD-10ER-type missile with an IIR seeker, designed to compensate for the Block I's limitations in mid-course missile guidance. By relying on an imaging infrared seeker for terminal acquisition, it could potentially offer an extended-range engagement option while reducing dependence on the aircraft's existing radar and guidance architecture.

This would be a relatively cost-effective way of extending the Block I's BVR capability without undertaking a comprehensive avionics upgrade.

IMHO, this is the most plausible operational rationale behind the integration, although the precise capabilities and guidance architecture would need to be confirmed.

If sucessful, this missile also opens up the potential to export as an intermediate BVR solution for the existing 3rd Gen platforms like Mirage III/Vs , 2K and F-7s etc.
