Russia - Ukraine war part ll. News and Discussions

Well, not sure if they will table the rubbish bill, but I do think Trump's ego is bigger than his party, so I don't really think Trump is actually going to work with the Democrats on this. And by the end of the Presidential year, we are going to see a bunch of ads reminding voters how many bills Trump had killed and asking them, do they want another MAGA to be President.....
It will be as I said.

Or, they will advance something that needs to be passed with a lot of rubbish attached to it again guaranteeing a Trump veto.

Either way, this is what they are counting on.

Republicans will need to pull their heads out (don't count on it), and respond to what the Dems are doing. But, when you have leaders like John Thune, you get the government you deserve.

Now, back to topic. We can continue in the appropriate threads.

Understood.... you appear to be a kool-aid guzzling supporter of the bandera regime and have no concerns that you are fighting for the Nazis?

This does put your comments, such as they are, in a new light. It explains why you refuse to recognise the undeniable facts I listed, and choose to call them "fantasies". Seriously, you deny that the Ukrop regime forcibly abducts its citizens even though the web is packed with videos documenting the practise? Even Budanov admits that Ukropistan is losing 30k troops a month that it needs to replace, but in your mind its just Ruskie agitprop? I suppose the torture cells are all a lie?

Mate, you've backed the wrong horse, and no matter how much you lie about it, reality will not shift to conform to your chosen narratives.
Well, this war lasted 5 years, in an active combat stage, and still the best Russia can hope for at this point is to take the whole Donbas. You don't need to have a military background to know this is not how a war should be fought. I mean, not a single country in the world would look at how the Russians fight their neighbor 3 times the size LESS than them with tooth and nail and say, "This is how I want my troops to fight"

On the other hand, what does Russia "achieve" even after they have completely taken Donbas? Add 20% of Ukrainian territories in their territories? And completely lost 80% of Ukraine? Or do you think in your crazy mind Ukrainian would simply forget about this and make friends with Russia again in the future? Or even crazier, think Russia can push all the way to Kyiv?

Again, you can say whatever you want if that makes you sleep better at night; I have no problem with you thinking like that. As for the other, I don't believe in what anybody said; I believe in my own eyes. I have been to Ukraine a couple of times after the war; have you? I was actually in Izium in June and teaching the soldier there how to interrogate Russian POWs. I've been to the frontline and was under Russian bombardment. I believe what I see there; you believe in what you heard. That's fine, but don't come to me and say, "Oh, you must be stupid to believe that," when you yourself had not been on the ground. If you want to believe in the Russian narrative, go take a gander at the Russian frontline, mate, then come back to me if you still believe in the situation.

I am going over again next May; you are in Australia, right? Maybe we can share a flight to Europe, and I hop off in Poland and go to Ukraine, and you hop off in Turkey and go to Russia, and we meet at the frontline next May? How about that? Otherwise, I don't see the need or want to keep talking to you. Talking about war sitting comfortably inside your own home in front of a computer is one thing; EVERYONE can do that. For those who had been in combat before, that's laughable at best, insulting at least.

Well, Trump just promoted Steve Miller to the Chief of Staff, so expect nothing to change at his end.

But again, I do see the Dem will table some solution for miltiary aid to Ukraine sometime in 2027 when the congress open, whether or not Trump will support or veto it remain to be seen.

Banderol could be a problem considering its long range and because it's carried by helicopters which can take off and land without airfields.

Let do a quick math. Ukraine still controls 5,500km2 of Donbas. So possibly a win for Putin if his invasion army continues making net gains in the next 10 years. Given Russia casualties 50,000 men a month, Russia would lose another 6 million soldiers.
That’s ok for Putin. Lives are cheap.

I wouldn’t bet on US military help. The left and right are busy with themselves in the years to come. Nobody in Europe, Asia trust those people.
Your figure of 50,000 per month speaks volumes. Utter nonsense and made up. Please give evidence of this figure or stop posting garbage

Firstly, I don't... there are many maps I don't post because they show nothing important.

Secondly, while the liberation of territory is the ultimate goal, the priority is to do this job at a minimal cost and keep Russian (conventional) combat power high enough to ward off the hysterical Eurotrash ruling elites from doing something stupid, like triggering a WW-1 redux for the same set of reasons.

Russians will maintain constant pressure and take territory when the loss ratio is assessed as being favourable. Until then the enemy is attritioned. If the enemy chooses to amass reserves for a push and their local forces outmatch the Russians then they withdraw while laying down fire, protecting their manpower reserves and attritioning the enemy as he advances, then establish a new line of balance and rinse-repeat.

Seriously we have seen this dance for years now, and people still don't understand?
I find Russian aviation losses in particular to be low relative to the amount of fighting RuAF is doing.

Dems cannot out supply Iran, North Korea. Those countries have slave labor. Dems don't have slave labor.

Plus, Dems are anti war. They may decide to stay neutral.

Some more gains for the rebels in Donbas.

I know many so called military analysts have said the war is slow going and Russia should have taken the country by now. However people are quick to forget Russia isn't just fighting Ukraine had Russia been fighting Ukraine alone without support the war would be over years ago. Ukraine has multiple sources of support, mercenaries, NATO intelligence, NATO personnel within the country in support and advisory roles, huge financial support, and huge amounts equipment, munitions, and fuel, they also get support from western charities. Russia on the other hand had some support from China, Iran, North korea but nothing on the scale of what Ukraine has had from the west, and it hasn't been free handouts either but rather trade deals, no charities helping, a very small mercenary/volunteer element, zero financial support, and faced the biggest sanctions package theveirkd had ever seen, yet thry have managed to keep going, the economy is surving, and arms production is higher than nato combined, while Ukraines economy and military production is almost at a standstill. And the west are still buying russian oil and gas through the back door, Ukraine is facing a naval blockade, a huge energy crisis, and have total disregard for it's population and troops. Russia as Gazza mentioned is playing the attrition game, this is a normal tactic and reduces your casualties it's not something new. Taking land comes when the situation is favourable hence the slower speed. And let's not forget Ukraine had years and years to plan, prepare defences in the Donbass and other areas, that's not something anyone is going to be foolish enough to run into head long into without mass casualties. Russia has also developed various military systems during the war and still fulfilled foreign orders, just recently delivered a squadron of Su-35 to Ethiopia a year ahead of schedule. Yet the western media keeps telling us Russian military production is in a terrible state. The fact that Russia is firing off missiles and drones in huge quantities on a daily basis tells you something, and tanks, aircraft, and munitions are still being delivered is another good sign things aren't as bad as the west make out.

Thats the conventional wisdom and the idea upon which the Western sanctions plot as based - boycott Russian energy and commodities and their economy will implode and the Ruble will collapse. It FAILED miserably, yet people still keep repeating the absurd shibboleth, as though somehow the rest of the planet of 7B+ people don't want to buy oil, gas, fertiliser, minerals, wheat, uranium, etc....

This war is about SECURITY concerns. The West broke its word about not expanding NATO to the East, enhancing its own security at the expense of Russia, and ignoring Russian protestations about the risks to themselves. In our arrogance we engineered a violent coup in Ukraine to install rabid anti-Russian bandera nationalists, encouraged them to launch a CIVIL WAR against those who rebelled against the putsch, then tried to regime-change Belarus as well (funny how NATO spruikers always want to ignore that part).

Russia will NOT accept NATO-controlled Ukraine, and will NOT accept Banderites being free to forcibly repress Russian-speakers in their efforts to engineer a mono-cultural, mono-linguistic anti-Russia Ukraine. They restrained themselves for 7+ years after 2014, trying to reach an accomodation with NATO/US, insisting that Minsk 2 be implemented (*), refusing to accept Donbass rebel demands to join Russia. 7+ years of constant provocations, AFU agressions, Western sanctions & malfeasense... finally it was too much and the AFU preparing for a final military strike against Donbass was the final straw.

(*) In Minsk 2, Donbass would have remained part of Ukraine but with a measure of autonomy. Ukraine would have federalised, and would have formally enshrined the rights of Russian speakers (and other minorities) to speak their own languages (dialects) and have their own cultural identity. The Kiev Regime refused to comply, West refused to insist on their compliance, even though such ideas are supposed to be core values of the "liberal democratic West". Go figure...

NATO clowns can posture all they like about how they are morally & ethically superior with their corrupt brand of liberal democracy, and how NATO is a "defensive alliance" of which Moscow has no justifiable fears and has no right to "interfere", but that just arrogant chest-beating. Relentless expansion of NATO is a real threat, and Russia has a long history of being attacked and invaded from the West. If one constantly provokes ones neighbour and works to deliberately undermine their security one should not be surprised when that neighbour punchs you in the mouth when you try to pull down his fence...

Ukraine turned out to be a bigger threat then NATO. Not sure what security threat NATO in Ukraine would pose to Russia that Ukraine has not already inflicted on Russia. Over half a million Russian troops dead and we should believe that NATO in Ukraine would be a bigger threat to Russia?

Without the charity Ukraine begs for - it would have been mince meat. Once again you throw figures of half a million without proof.

Yes - aid provided to Ukraine by US and EU and allies totals $382 bln since 2022 and it's not just military equipment but also civilian one and financial aid.

Russia has not received a comparable amount.
