US 2026 Midterm Elections Thread

They will face even bigger shellacking next time around if they failed to deliver. People voted for them because they want results- meaning lower the cost of living.

They can start by removing Chuck filibuster Schumer.
Agree that Schumer has to go and many on the republican side too in fact both parties need a cleansing however I disagree about the people voted for dems for results. They got voted in because folks who voted for Trump stayed home, and we're talking about in the tens of millions of voters. No logical political person believes that Texas, SC, Kansas and the rest of the deep red states have gone blue because they are now popular this was a HUGE middle finger to congressional republicans and Trump from their voters for dicking around.

I mostly agree with you, but people also overwhelmingly voted because they were pissed off

If the people would do that like they are supposed to, then maybe, just maybe, a lot of the problems will begin to go away.

They might even use their heads and start electing better candidates.

So that's where the 'White Flight' is heading toward. Might as well include Idaho. The 'minorities' and the 'immigrants' don't like the cold places. Or find some smaller town in more warm locations.
I don't blame you for the choice you'd be making. I too avoid larger cities-- Dems or Repubs.

hey....you know...

Ted Cruz was lucky that he was not on the ballot in this election. He definitely would’ve been washed out.

I give you credit for saying days ago that it was the NYC Zohar Mamdani who injected life into a fragmented, leaderless Democratic Party. I don't know if this was your original insight or not but it appears right.

As for me, some may find it hard to believe: I don't follow any politics too much. I have a staunch Democratic friend who has been asking me to go to various Democratic Party local events but I never went to those--despite being a Liberal myself. The only time I went to an event was when Annie Andrews was at a restaurant close to home and I basically went to eat some food and barely paid attention to her or the event.

The Midterms came and I took some interests because of hoping to have better health insurance options, which the Democrats would provide, and to have better hope to stop the war on Iran, which the Democrats would provide. Beyond those... I am too self-absorbed to worry about what some in other far off regions do. Whether Left or Right, stay away from my region's peaceful area.
