HAL LCA Tejas: Updates, News & Discussions

Wow that's big news
I would have waited until first 83 was delivered
They must have faith
65000crore is 7.5 billion dollars

Fabulous news. The tender has been issued to HAL for 97 more Tejas Mk1A fighters for an estimated Rs 65,000 crores.

Will take Tejas Mk1A fleet size in the IAF to 180 plus 40 Tejas Mk1s (which will be upgraded to Mk1A std eventually) meaning in all the IAF will field 220 Tejas Mk1As in the coming decades.

Defence Ministry issues Rs 65,000 crore tender to HAL for buying 97 LCA Mk1A fighter jets
It's unlikely that the Indian Air Force will stop at 220 Tejas aircraft, they may well order more in the future. This order represents the largest procurement of any aircraft in the history of IAF.

Unlikely, the current backlog allow HAL to produce Mk1A beyond 2030. And after that LCA Mk2 comes online.

Wow those mock up planes look superb
Wish we had two hundred in service already
With Amca coming in soon
Can't wait just hope I'm around to see it

If you are over 50 may not happen in your lifetime....

We produced 800 MiG-21s , nothing's gonna beat that.
Better to go with 250+ MK2 , more range, more payload , integrated IRST.

Its the middle of 4th month of the year, anyone know how many Tejas been delivered so far this year?

Do Pakistanis not understand the concept of financial year ?

Deal signed in Feb-21 , HAL said that first jet will come after 36 months , and it did took off in march-24 , but airforce asked some more modifications, so delivery is delayed.

They are unlikely to order more than 220 Tejas Mk1A. After that their orders will shift to the Tejas Mk2 which is likely to garner at least 126 units if not more.

I think that one Tejas Mk1A, which recently completed its test flight, has either been delivered or is ready for delivery

That means RFP is issued to HAL.

As I have said, RFP is issued, most likely Govt sign the contract after election.

Tejas Mk1 fighter participated in an exercise for Emergency Landing Facility (ELF) on a highway somewhere in the Western sector.
