reading through this thread I find it fascinating at those wanting mass death and destruction. I don’t think that is the intention or WW3 would follow.
The mere fact Iran has had the audacity
To launch and show potentially what Israel will have to do to exist is the key. Israel have been warned that Iran has literally 10 of thousands of these rockets ready will send a shiver to those that find a scratch damaging to their ego.

Hezbollah launches rockets : nothing happens

Yemen launches missiles & drones : nothing happens

Iran launches : 99.98988% intercepted

Israelis are master of deception and they save face

The truth is they are defenseless and they can become expired by Iranian weapons

While I do agree that airplane is still king, the Iranians clearly held back.

They have enough fire power to overwhelm Israeli defenses and decimate Israeli bases and positions.

While we don't know the exact number, I'm willing to bet that Israel's interceptors are severely depleted.

They launched a couple hundred drones and older model, CMs and BMs, a drop in the bucket when it comes to their total arsenal which is said to be the largest missile force in the world.

Let's not down play the significance here. This was clearly a warning.
I will leave you guys to your hubris. As long as no one violates the laws of nature, my participation in this discussion will be limited because eventually, a member of the admin staff will get ticked off enough and ban me from the forum.

Israel has "intercepted a vast majority" of Iran's strikes, IDF spokesperson says

From CNN's Tamar Michaelis and staff

Israel Defense Forces spokesperson Daniel Hagari gives a statement from Tel Aviv, Israel, early Sunday, local time. IDF

Israel Defense Forces spokesperson Daniel Hagari said Iran had launched dozens of surface-to-surface missiles from its territory toward Israel.

The vast majority of the missiles were intercepted outside Israeli territory, by Israel’s aerial defense systems, Hagari said in an update early Sunday local time.

He said a few projectiles landed within Israeli territory, and there had been a hit on an IDF base in southern Israel, which resulted in mild damage to infrastructure.
The Israeli air force had intercepted more than 10 cruise missiles outside Israeli territory, and dozens of UAVs were intercepted outside Israeli territory.
Syria also intercept vast majority of Israel missiles . Ukraine several day ago also intercepted the vast majority of Russian incoming missiles when they pulverized their largest PowerPlanet.

How was my comment 'pathetic'? Can you dispute what I said about the VKS over Ukraine? Can you dispute what I said about Iranian airpower presence over Israel? No, you cannot. I am an ardent proponent of airpower in general and so far, nothing have disproved what I said about airpower being the best method to engage an enemy.

You are disappointed? Good, that means you learned nothing and as an American, I like it when our potential adversaries do not learn, especially when the evidence is in their faces.

The missile is a throwaway weapon. The airplane is not. The missile is cheap, but its utility is limited, in other words, the missile is what Americans say 'one trick pony'. On the other hand, while the airplane is more expensive, it comes in variety of flavors. The army has something called 'persistence of presence' or troops in the area. The airplane can do similar because it can return again and again. Missiles can do neither. Air defense do not fear the missile but the airplane.
Not really, it has disposal limitation as well.

That's the problem of Israel.
Nobody with money and power wants to live there.

Israeli ruling elite live abroad, they have decision power, and they dont care about drag Israel to wars.

Where live the owner of the Israeli-linked ship taken by Iran? I bet he stays little in Israel land.

That is not what I am talking about, it's your last conclusion.

How nothing have disproved what I said about airpower being the best method to engage an enemy.

That is context dependent. Sometimes artillery is much more efficient.

Lol, I don't have a dog in the fight. Only stayed here to enjoy tonight's firework and potentially draw some lesson.

Btw, we left our beef with USA in the past. When it sent carrier strike group yet still failed to prevent the independence of Bangladesh.

Forget drones, CM and BM.

Iran should target Israeli pilots for assassination. I don't know how many pilots Israel has but, if enough of them are killed, most of their fancy planes will be worthless (until/unless foreign pilots trained in those planes volunteer to replenish).

None so far, but one girl is reported to injured from falling shrapnel. But one can not expect many casualties, when you give your enemy more than 2 hours advance warning to shelter in their strong rooms and bunkers.

Iran's decision to attack with slow flying drones, who's arrival should coincides with ballistic missiles and cruise missiles to overwhelm Israeli missile defences, kind of backfired.

Israelis had more than enough time to prepare and shelter before the attack. Every news channel was broadcasting more than an hour before even first of the Iranian missile made its way into Israeli airspace, that an Iranian attack was on.
What an absurd thing to say. You are speaking as if Irans objective was to kill as many civilians as possible.

Hard task, they have robust and ruthless counter inteligence, but if possible that would be most effective strategy ever.

People don't walk around with a kevlar vest and helmet all day long.

These pilots take vacations, they go to the gym and the supermarket, they live ordinary lives for the most part.

HUMINT is one of the easiest areas to close the capability gap. It doesn't require billions of dollars and a mature technology base like other capability gaps.
