The Drone Iran shot down was a predecessor of MQ-4C triton and was literally flying at less than 35K ft altitude
A non-stealthy large drone flying at such an altitude was genuinely calling for trouble.

The altitude is not important . High altitude is a lot easier . We'll unless you fly above 30km .
The drone rcs as explained in the article may not be as low as b2 but is well below an fighter like super hornet or raffael certainly several time less than f15.
And as I said guidance was done with ir and optic not radar

I remember reading a technical write up of the Global Hawk shot down. You are completely underestimating the need for the passive radar.

Yes terminal targeting was done by a sector scan via top down attack of Sayyad, but to get the sector it needed to the general coordinates - which it got from the early warning radar and the EO/IO. But it absolutely could not have been done without the early warning radar or else it would have been done using just EO/IO + seeker on Sayyad.

Early warning radar was used to determine what type of aircraft it is and gave the operator a vague distance and altitude . The rest was done with 3rd of khordad and at the dive time the missile and 3rd of khordad.
There was no use of passive radar in the incident.
Using the term of passive radar is a little stretching out the category

I remember when KS was initially announced they said 1450km range but can be extended to 1800km (from the start)

but that can't be the explanation because if KS-2 = KS-1 + Fattah-1 RV and has 1800km range, it means KS-2 has same RV but longer range than Fattah-1 ... which seems wrong ?

I'm not sure whether KS-2's RV has its own motor. That might actually be the difference between F-1 and KS-2.

IIRC, that's what was announced for Haj Qasem.

that is key distinguishing factor of Fattah-1's motor, isn't it? otherwise how is the RV different from KS-1?

the shape is the same but are you sure they are the same

the shape is fairly the same but naming scheme on rv is different.

my guess is that its like Samsung phones that in last 3 year all look the same

I think he is right, when Haj Qasem was released they said range can be extended to 1800km (I thought they said it for KS, but it was Haj Qasem)

less than 10 months ago they said IRGC will receive Haj Qasem soon: https://en.mehrnews.com/news/203758/IRGC-to-receive-Haj-Qassem-ballistic-missile-in-near-future

also recently when they showed 4x Khorramshahr missiles there were 2x Haj Qasem missiles next to them. so this suggests it has entered some production

but to be honest they probably use same or similar booster so they can be very interchangeable

Haj-Qasem (AIO) is being mass-produced as it‘s a successor to Dezful and not a direct competitor to Kheibar-Shekan (IRGC-ASF-SSJ) which is a more advanced but also pricier missile. Haj-Qasem is basically a longer-range Dezful with more upside potential for range extension while Kheibar-Shekan belongs to a new missile family with Fattah-1 and Fattah-2 being its latest family members.

this explains why we see Haj Qasem and Khorramshahr (AIO) together and Kheibar Shekan and Fattah together (IRGC-ASF-SSJ)
