UPDATE || Amir Khan, the former world light-welterweight champion, expressed his disappointment over the closure of his academy in Islamabad.
In a video message, the Pakistani boxer shared his frustration by saying, “Every time I come to Pakistan, there used to be an academy here. But now, I receive messages from children asking for training and boxing classes.
Why isn’t boxing being promoted in Pakistan? Despite my efforts to engage with officials and the government, no action has been taken. My gym was newly built and well-maintained, but it was forced to shut down.
I am currently in Pakistan, but tomorrow I will be returning to England, feeling deeply disheartened. It pains me to see that the significant investment of over $100,000 in the gym has gone to waste.”
