According to some reports Russia has 300,000 troops fighting against 800,000 Ukrainian troops. I don't see how Russia would be able to overtake more Ukrainian territory or hold a large portion of territory. Can PDF experts explain this, for many years we witness everyday reports of Russian and Ukrainian destruction but it seems the war is a stalemate, both sides are digged in deep and planning to fight for decades.

Russia has made a 20km advance in the Avdiivka direction in the last 7 months, and very small advances elsewhere. To date, these are only tactical advances with no strategic or operational breakthrough.

In less than a month, Ukraine liberated 12,000 sq kms during its Kharkiv offensive in September ‘22. That’s what a strategic breakthrough looks like.

In the grand scheme, Russia is making small advances at enormous cost in armor and manpower.

Biggest issue for Ukraine is manpower and mobilization. Why they haven’t mobilized their entire society is anyone’s guess.
Another issue is fortifications. Thats being fixed now, but they’ve waited far too long to build those.

As hard as Ukraine has fought they’ve actually made a bunch of mistakes in this war. Their entire counteroffensive plan and refusal to listen to US advice was a massive failure. Lack of mobilization, fortifications, etc etc.

Ukraine is fortunate Russia has been unable to achieve a breakthrough since the first couple weeks of the war. It will take weeks to stabilize the lines and US aid to reach frontline units at scale.

617,000 according to Putin himself.
Russia invasion army probably now 1 million men in total for the ongoing offensive.
That’s out of 1.5 million men of Russia army.
Then Putin needs a constant supply of men. Russia casually rate runs 1,000 men on average per day.

Number of troops is not that important in modern warfare. Ukraine may have millions of troops, but Russia has tens of millions of drones. This is the drone age. Troops stand no chance against drones and get slaughtered within a short period of time. In this footage you can see drones slaughtering a group of troops who stood no chance.
