Also as part of the agreement to build the dam there and wipe out our homes - Mirpuris we're promised free electricity. That didn't happen either.

They were promised resettlement, land, remittances that changed the socioeconomic conditions making it amongst the top regions of PK
Asking for even more takes away resources from less privileged regions

AJK and GB should be treated equally as other provinces. Some people may demand free electricity but the committe was asking for a better rate which AJK and GB deserve it.

Regarding tax, all goods are taxed before sale and we all pay it, on property tax, the people in the cities may pay it but the villagers or mountain people own the land so they are not entitled to pay. Discount on wheat prices, GB has been given discount so this is why they want equal treatment.

Yes all pakistanis pay for the dams but they also get electricity aswell. Blame the federal government for not starting the dam projects earlier and signing expensive contracts with IPP etc. The federal government is busy looting and everyone knows it, the rich steal electricity whilst the locals and weak pay for expensive electricity and face loadshedding. Why don't they ask the rich and elite to pay tax, stop the money laundering of 15+ billions annually (the undocumented maybe triple).

Royalties are already given, and electricity demand in Ajk and GB is not much so they should definitely be given some discount for locals

local gov can use it as per their wish to make electricity cheaper or to invest in HD

, in GB which is also Kashmir we have Katzarah dam, Satpara dam and Bunji dam, some large dams are under construction. The locals were on board and this is why agreements were signed.

It's like taking oil and gas from Balochistan and Kpk but the locals are still living in tents and mud houses, no development, they have every right to protest and complaint. The industrials and elite whilst are living the dream.

But do they get paid for it?, Balochistan and Kpk are not happy and are protesting. Pakistan should be building large and small dams, should have done this before the electricity crises, get rid of massive oil/gas Imports for electricity and the expensive IPPs. Who the heck signed these agreements in the first place? They should have known we will suffer in the future.

Let's come to the Basics. Can't the following bold decisions be taken and implemented within a year's time?
1. Declare Azad J&K as a full-fledged Province of Pakistan.
2. Ensure representation to the People of Azad J&K, in the National Parliament.
3. Conduct free and fair Elections to the Provincial Assembly within six months.
4. Increase Pak Govt's grants to Azad J&K to three times the National average, in order to improve the Human Development Index parameters to the National level within ten years time.
5. Permit visa-free travel to India Administered J&K, and cross-border trade for 100 essential/useful commodities without any Import/Export tax regime being imposed, across 10 mutually agreed Border Trade Points.

These measures if implemented would give Pakistan a great propaganda victory, and fulfil the legitimate desires of the people of Azad J&K!
