Fact remains, Indian GDP growth is of no concern for Japan. They have very different issues to deal with. In the top 10 list of things that concern japanese government, Indian growth will not even figure. It will be more around China, USA, Climate Change, their own population decline and greying, earthquakes, decline of their cities, their military and so on.

When China's GDP overtook Japan's in 2010, the same year China became the world biggest manufacturing nation overtaking US, and was about to become the world biggest trading nation in 2013，years after becoming the biggest foreign reserve nation in 2006, two years after Beijing Olympic Games in 2008..
We see none of them happen in today's India, this so called "overtaking" doesn't have much substance in real life.
