Pakistan is not dying to attack Afghanistan 24/7 like India is dying to attack Pakistan 24/7.
Many Pakistani decision makers and people see Afghanistan (same as Iran) as a natural ally owing to ethnic, religious, historical and geographical ties with Afghanistan. They would rather first try to make friends with it.
On the other hand, Afghanistan is like a closed gutter full of cockroaches in your neighbours house. You can spray the cockroaches over the boundary wall, or when they enter your house. However, is it worth the nusaince to lift the gutter lid and methodically exterminate every last roach inside, while all of them swarm you? It won't kill you, it will just be a huge annoyance.

They need to heavily mine a no man's land buffer between the border and build out a multilayer cement wall with watch towers and sensors and regular UAV patrols.
Honestly from the outside the People managing Pakistan seem hopeless. If they had done this decades back when there was still US money flowing, this could have been done for free, they threw 3 trillion dollars into Afghanistan, a demarcation and a wall would have been a drop in the bucket. Such a wasted opportunity.
Its still not too late to invest, take out a chinese loan for the wall, maybe they can subsidize it as well, as it ensures regional stability that benefits china.

Coming to the Taliban issue. Sure, the Taliban who are good at spreading terror and ideology of hate are not good for Pakistan, but that does not mean Pakistan goes gung-ho about this issue.
The best course of action is to keep the borders secure as much as possible. If mishaps happen then retaliatory measures need to be taken. Anything beyond that will not be in Pakistan’s interests.

Dear @Dalit I am a follower of your posts and i have learnt a lot from your bravely and valuable replies in different threads and for a fact, I know that you have a patriot charcter.
But let me criticize Pakistan. Just a couple of days ago American terrorist the head of CENTCOM visited Pakistan and also he was present on your border areas. That's way too dangerous and it conveys much more dangerous massages. These bastards were the ones that heliborned ISIS into Syria. USA is a destabilizing element.
Talibani minister says that USA transfers ISIS into Afghanistan through Pakistan and the Pakistani side is scapegoating Afghans.
Now I am not going to defend Talibs. They have done much to hurt us in the past.
But the guy had a point.
USA will try to leave Afghanistan and Pakistan lock horn over border issues. And in this chaos they will end their own mission covertly.
Pakistanis obviously don't want ISIS on their border but as it seems USA is on a mission. They might import ISIS under cover without Pakistanis noticing it. Don't trust them, it is a great threat to Pakistan. The attacks on Chinese engineers must be a wake up call to you 99.99% of Pakistanis. That 0.01 % is the same bunch that enables USA to play ISIS card against China and Afghanistan and Iran with JuA. And Pakistan itself in the long run. Your country has to recognize those betraying elements before it's too late.
Afghan- Pakistan issue must be solved through dialogue.
