yo @vsdoc

ek baat batao, Parsis ka Ismaili/Bohra musalmans se kya scene/relation hai, if any ?

I kinda-sorta know this quite famous guy, absolutely hates, loathes, balks at the very mention of the sangh lol.

In my limited, though super friendly and bhai bhai type drunken shenanigans I found out ki unka political compass kaha ko point kar ra hai.

Based just on his surname, I jumped to the conclusion ki banda Parsi hoga obviously, but it turns out bohra ya Ismaili hai.. who also also trace their lineage back to mama Persia or something ?

Oh course, once it was clear as crystal to me, ki kya scene hai.. I quickly doused whatever glowing embers I saw and steered the conversation away from political discourse and into merrier waters.

batao kuch.. baaki e-mail pe bhi baat kr sakte hain but this is just me being curious about your lot.

In Singapore in my school (early teenage years after HK), I had Muslim friend (and also rival esp in cricket) that was a Dadabhoy.

I put him down later in life as one of the Bohra, Khoja or most likely Memon....since his mother tongue was Gujarati...and thats all he really let on at the time.

He was thoroughly british in upbringing, posh accent etc everything though....and never really identified as Indian or Pakistani etc (I suppose his older folks migrated pre-partition maybe).

But name Dadabhoy always struck me as very much more popular with Parsis. I suppose its Persian etymology in the end? @vsdoc @Joe Shearer

I know doc is very cognisant on the long story of the jews, the parallels with the Parsi story....and he likely even knows the theological influence zoroastrians had on the Jewish religion too...... but I wonder if @vsdoc has read much regarding the Huguenots? There are some parallels there too. Evictions from homeland really make folks have a point to prove when they settle elsewhere among larger host (I know somewhere in 99th percentile I would say regd Huguenots role in Canada compared to most Canadians).

@Joe Shearer was there another article/post somewhere in this thread other than the leading one at the start that you wanted to draw attention to?

Yes.
Will point it out once I have my hot little hands on a full sized physical keyboard.
We have permission to reproduce it, mentioning <vsdoc> as having cited both.

He's a well known stealth agent for the Sangh Parivar, employed to give People a seemingly neutral insight into things that turns out to be pushing a Sanghi point of view.

Completely untrustworthy.

I know.

Have you heard of Abhijit Chavda?

Like your ex Hyderabadi now American friend.

Cheers, Doc

eh ?

Ok, I have no idea about this guy but it somehow showed up in my youtube feed, maybe because I was browsing some Parsi food stuff the other day.

Oh well.
I was referring to the soft pedaling Priest.

As was I. This Ranveer guy is a pretty cool cat, been subbed for a while to him. Generally excellent interviews across the board, cricketers, special forces guys, its good stuff.

Also, Allahbadia, he a Parsi too by any chance ?

No he is surely not.

Joes was referring to Ranveer incidentally.

And his coolness.

I do not grudge him his Hindu lean towards the Avestan Vedic origin/split. It is natural.

Historically, both sides are socially polite on this issue. General unspoken agree to disagree amicably.

Then you have the frothing rabid "go to Iran" and "your women Love Jihaded by cult" types from one side.

This is a modi-fied India.

Really ?

That is quite shocking news to me. At least I've never seen/heard anyone talk smack about or talk down your lot. Its mostly the poor muslims that get the stick, and worse. Not nice, but that whole situation is rooted in partition and the wars etc since.
