The sad thing is, that is still considered very much an acceptable loss (if defined as fatality + injured)

It’s very inappropriate for me to say, but because of the chronic economic stagnation and the social-cultural circumstance, every winter around 40k Russians get drunk, fell asleep outside and freeze to death, mostly lower class male.

For a very significant portion of the Russian population, joining the SMO is a decision that only changed to location and manner of death. Except if they serve and/or die in SMO, their family do get fairly significant monetary compensation (something that cannot be said for the other side lmao)

Which is why yes, having 2 jet crashes worth of loss is sustainable, and does not impact war support.

This weapons use policy is a bad idea. I understand military necessity but it's only going to make the political situation more volatile and will have minimal impact on the ground. Using US weapons to unalive Russian soldiers on Russian soil is going to really poke the bear.
