The enmity between the population this round of killing has led to is basically paving the way for a two state option to become more likely. Separation of people, because as the Palestinians have shown, they aren’t leaving their land.

The world will start to come to this conclusion to as the only option they can stand behind, without really siding with one side or another, and will just require a UN peacekeeping force to stand in between these populations.

This will also mean the world will be more inclined to stand against the settlements in the West Bank, as a large obstacle to peace in the region, and will try to separate the two populations, creating a large solid West Bank and not the Bantustans / Swiss cheese of the West Bank.

I doubt there will be a land corridor between the West Bank and Gaza through Israel, so probably will mean a Jordanian/Saudi/Egyptian route that doesn’t have to go through Israel controlled territory. Still faster than the humiliation the Israelis make the Palestinians endure to just visit relatives in the other enclave.

It is the minimal option to the Arab autocrats; assuaging the desire of their public’s for a permanent solution to the light of the Palestinians, without fighting Israel (and basically the collective west) directly.

I would agree with the above. It is painfully clear that neither side can kill off or physicaly deport the other side, no matter how hard they may try. Hence, there is no option but to learn to live together in peace.

What the world needs to help ensure is that a viable pathway to that end result is implemented in as quick a manner as possible. Stopping the current carnage must be a priority as the first step.

They could “live together” but as neighboring countries not as the mess of the settlements on hills in the West Bank above Palestinians towns. A UN peacekeeping force would be necessary to keep the two populations separated. At least two generations, 40-50 years will have to pass for them to be comfortable to deal with each other as individuals, the way it did for Jewish people to be willing to accept normal Germans again as just people.

Bothe States need to viable. A mishmash of settlements without a coherent sovereign border would be pointless. Israel must be made to realize that just as much as for the Palestinians to realize that getting rid of whom they see as usurpers is simply wishful thinking given the geopolitical realities of today, as well as the breathless firebreathers here who are wishing to see the Jews removed totally simply because they support the regional power supporting the present conflict for its own selfish reasons.

And for the Arab autocrats, the sooner a viable Palestinian state is formed in the region, can they be able to effectively push back on Iranian influence in the region. For the US, making the Israelis accept a viable Palestinian state, will also allow them to push back on Russian and Chinese influence in the region.

It’s this or the Arab leaders and the west deal with the blowback from Arab populations preventing the interests of these governments being realized and just leaving open fissures for their adversaries to keep on exploiting.

The ball is in the court of the Arab leaders and the US.

Agreed. As always, the devil is going to lie in the details as to the implementation of practical steps to makes those end goals achievable.

Indeed. We saw how Israel hoodwinked the world with the Oslo Accords.

All needs to be agreed from day one, with a fixed time table, regardless of how events transpire on the ground.

Anything less and Israel will find a way out of the deal.

To be fair and honest, one cannot assume good faith from either side at present. They are both playing dirty with each other as much as possible, each side for their own respective reasons.
