Sheik Hasina's tenure as the leader of Bangladesh saw the country's economy grow many folds. Bangladesh's economy became the envy of her neighborhood. History will judge her kindly for this achievement.

Who is expected to succeed her?

To be fair I found her to be the best leader in Bangladesh but unfortunately the corrupt in her party lead to her downfall. She should have taken strict action against them, made reforms and made sure merit is followed instead of 1971 war veterans and families given special treatments.

BD event is likely making bigger snow ball of democratization process in South Asia.

I would say the first snow ball made by Srilanka and so far two people power events in South Asia completed with good result.

Pakistan time will likely come as well, maybe not in the immediate future, but it could become a gradual improvement rather than a revolution/ people power as more Pakistani elite including in the military understand that authoritarian system will likely be difficult to survive.

Some members always say that USA needs military base in Bangladesh.... but it does not make any strategic sense in having military base in Bangladesh against China.... Look at the map of BOB below

Bangladesh is situated at the top corner of BOB and having base there means USA is already chocked or cornered by China that sits on the southern port in Myanmar and also on coco islands of Burma.... In short US becomes blockade prone in Bangladesh....

It makes more sense for USA to ask India for a base either on mainland coast in TN or AP or Andaman Nicobar islands which is south to the Chinese base in Myanmar.... Here China will be chocked or cornered or become blockade prone during wartime as it will give more flexibility options to US to halt Chinese vessels that try to come out towards Indian ocean....

Having base in India will keep them closer to Diego Garcia which is very important for US during the time of war.... Bangladesh will take them far away from Diego Garcia and in the middle Chinese base will be an obstacle for their supplies and logistics...

India can ask US that in return any attack on India by China or Pakistan has to be taken care by USA... We should ask them for their ABM shield which they deploy in NATO countries for their protection.... US air force should be asked to dedicate few squadrons deployed in Ladakh, Arunachal, Kashmir and other north west India to handle any attack by PLAAF or PAF...

US needs a military base in Bangladesh to strategically threaten India, given that Bangladesh borders the Siliguri Corridor. With a base in this location, US could potentially cut off this crucial corridor if India makes decisions contrary to US interests.
India and US are not allied as US is with Pakistan or Saudi Arabia. During the 1971 Indo-Pak war, India and US were on opposing sides, nearly leading to a direct conflict. India cannot continue testing intercontinental nuclear missiles, buying oil and weapons from Russia and Iran, and maintaining relations with North Korea and Cuba, and still remain a US ally. For US, a country is either an obedient ally, like Pakistan, or an enemy.

No USA wants to block Chinese access to BoB via Myanmar..... keeping base or presence in BoB will be a new challeng for China.... they are already like a semi landlocked country and are chocked from every corner....

When it comes to sea right from few 100s kms from China's only single coastline allies rules the waves then come forward Indonesia is there an another big challenge then come forward India sits right on the gates of Malacca and both India and US navy can make things further complicated for China in IOR.....

Think why china is so desperate for OBOR, CPEC and silk routes....

To threat India USA doesn't need to come to BoB..... she can easily threaten India from Diego Garcia itself.....

You suffered from allowing USA with bases because USA was not fighting against proper conventional force.... they were fighting against Taliban terrorists....

Here in India case if we allow them bases it will be directed towards China.....

India cannot handle China alone and USA would love to have India as an ally who is weak compared to China but is a heavy-weight power that can surely make things much easier for USA.... so in east Asia USA with Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and in South Asia and IOR another heavy-weight joins will be a win win for USA.....

If USA is ready to deploy all her assets like ABM and other things for the protection of India like they do in European countries or in Japan and South Korea then I'm all for going ahead with a bases to USA in India....

Hinduvta India is projecting their own intolerance and violence onto BD as a form of propaganda both for their own illiterate and fanatical population and also for external, mainly western, consumption.

Bangladesh Hindu Mahajot Head Govinda Pramanik confirms no major vandalism against Hindus happened in Bangladesh. There were few incidents which involved Hindus, but those were because of their affiliation with BAL. Similar attacks happened on Muslim BAL leaders too. He accused Indian republic channel specifically.

This guy is essentially head of BJPs Bangladesh branch.

India didn't allow even Russia to establish a base in its territory, let alone USA.
