PDF Pakistanis have long deluded themselves with wishful thinking that Modi is bad for India.
That is no delusion. That is the truth.
Now many of them arrive at the truth through a very wrong reasoning...(i.e the very reason they struggle to follow same logic regarding their own i.e heavyset islamists in politics and society).
That is separate matter though.
In the overall sum of things, you need a balance between social conservatism and social liberalism....with at least the proper weightage of study assigned to the 20th century and 19th century....given we are about a quarter way through the 21st one.
Reversion to social conservatism in say a scale of 1 - 10 (1 being extreme socially conservative to 10 being extreme social liberal and 5 being a practical good balance that tries to take the best of both and suppress the worst bits of both)....from say 3 to 2.5 or 2...... through the use of top-down politics for some extreme attempted metaphysical consolidation....is just as bad as doing this from say a 8 to a 9 or 10.
At the extremes lie fringe thinking people who have fringe mental problems unable to grasp reality and truth (which requires the middle setting to harness).
The fascist approach to what religion (or other tribal marker that sets the conservatism to cudgel in politics as be all end all for creation of only their specific national conscious/aegis).....is just as bad as the communist drive to create a new religion altogether (the cultism that forms around leaders of the extreme "top down" materialist march to utopia).
Power for power sake argument cannot prevail ever (and all its variants claiming "stability at any cost for the greater good" as some power-wielder defines subjectively).
It has to be proven to have purpose in the end....and there is only one way this can be done regd a large population in the end for them to trust these authorities and hierarchies that exist in society....and the feedback process with the resolution from the greater people to transmit and iterate and improve....compared to sticking to "select few stratified elites only" (and the nasty coin toss process that you get there on good vs bad compared to hedged monte carlo sim of adequately distributed network).
It (power) is not an end to itself, power, authority and hierarchy are ultimately means to a greater end.
The tail can never wag the dog past a point. The dog realises the game...it always does in the end....things bleed over into view....sometimes literal blood.
