Actually its not that hard. If environmental norms are compromised, like Maldives itself did. The biggest reason Lakshadweep has remained untouched is because developing connectivity means building infra on top of very sensitive ecology of the region. The moment you do it, it will attract a lot of criticism.

Sure it will not be ready in 2 days but 10 years out, it can give Maldives a run for its money, literally.

Goa mostly northern Goa you will find party like scenes but still they are beautiful beaches and off course no problem at all to go with families.....

If you want only peace with beauty then southern Goa is best, you can further explore coastal karnataka and kerala and believe me they are much more beautiful than Maldives beaches.....

In coastal karnataka you get same white sand broad and long beaches with full of greenery and see Maldives being a small archipelago state has limitations in offering you a variety in scenery and types of beaches compared to India which is blessed with thousands of miles of coast lines....

Maldives is more enjoyed for shallow water diving than scenery which yoy can directly do from your hotel rooms on most of the islands.....

Karnataka is the answer to the Maldives, if we needed an answer to the Maldives, but a dull and uneducated idiot - nobody we know - might come to the wrong conclusions. Such a hypothetical, purely imagined character might object to Karnataka having booted out a most objectionable bunch of idiots out, and might not want that standing in front. Might want to leverage the existing very high recall of God's own country to push an archipelago within swimming distance (I'm joking) of the Kerala coastline.

Goodness me they spend more, of course they don't get charged more. That 20% can be replaced and I've put up links showing its surge among higher spending tourists.
The rest is accurate, but necessity can force them to change as well i.e. build hospitals to cater for their needs.

Everything you said is possible , it just keeps adding up the cost and eventually not make financially attractive tourist destination.

Time will tell but I have a feeling to fix perpetual India hate problem of Maldives, Modi is taking correct step. Lakshadweep must become hot tourist destination and than people will fall in line.

Do you know how much the transportation will cost for sending milk, vegetables, groceries, toiletries etc over such long distance? Moreover, India has the lowest retail price for these goods while other countries have significantly higher retain price. Adding the retail price and transport cost, it will be a disaster. Also, Maldives can't magically increase tourists from other countries to make up lost revenues, Americans, Europeans etc have no real incentive to suddenly start going to Maldives with more enthusiasm.

I am sorry to say Joe, but you are absolutely WRONG here.

Even if there was ZERO presence of Indian troops in Maldives, EVEN if India was making its entire cabinet Muslim, making Islam one true religion of the country, EVEN if India were sending all its troops to die fighting US and Israel in Gaza, EVEN if India were to hang and kill every non Muslim in India, STILL Maldives will absolutely hate India. To the highest order of hatred.

Why? Because it PAYS to hate India. It wins elections. It gets paid by likes of China, UK and USA.

You can not use goodwill because other party is going to use lies. No one remembers truth and facts because lies sell faster.

You do know that guy Muizzu? His campaign was entirely based on two words "India Out". He was telling his voters that there are 1000s of Indian soldiers building 10s of bases in Maldives. Now he can not find them once he is elected.

So no matter who is on the helm, this show will go on. And no amount of friendly policy will endear you to these smaller neighbouring countries. India should better learn to keep a purely transactional relations with these. You want to make partners? Find equals. There a partnership can be forged. You try to forge friendship and partnership with these countries, they will always see that they are being taken advantage of and lies from others will fan it.

Look at what USA does. Or Russia does. When you are an elephant, you have to live like elephant.

True that an elephant has to live like an elephant. I am reminded of a thousand times greater thinker than Modi - or even Mao, whose cook he was during the Long March - the author of China's rise. He advocated keeping a low profile. Only the clash with Vietnam disturbed his actions building up China to surge forward. Look at the GDP figures and you will get the value of not acting like an elephant before one is an elephant.

My point is one that I can emphasise to you, although you have chosen to surround yourself with a pretty single-cell brained bunch.

The point is that it is none of India's business whom the Maldives decides to make its leader. It never was, it never will be. Why people are raving and ranting about the independent political decisions of an independent nation is difficult to understand. Why some Indians are more royalist than the King is even more difficult to understand. The Maldives is not, after all, the 27th state of the Union of India. Even if it were, we would be well-advised not to interfere. Look at Manipur, look at Nagaland, look, above all else, at Kashmir.
