Punishment denotes that Palestinians as the occupied have done something wrong and some of them need to be punished. It is completely devoid of a trauma informed approach or the viewpoint of a victim.

Proportionate force means that Israel as the occupier has a right to use force on the occupied, but not too much force.

Both terms, collective punishment and proportionate response go hand in hand. When you take a step back, they make no sense.

Unfortunately too many Muslims and "Global Southies" have been conditioned to accept this 19th century colonialist settler state as being a normal entity that has the right to exist within 1967 borders.
