PAF F-16 | Discussions

Eurasian Times? didnt expect this from you....
Welcome to the long list of disappointed people in my life...

The UAE F-16s could be comparable to Block 72+ or V upgrade now even though they stayed ahead of all F-16 versions for nearly 2 decades. Now other 4.5 gen aircrafts are on par with block 60's capabilities. The edge holds against IriAF, yes.

One area where block 60 takes edge is over Mirage-2000 which even when upgraded will be replaced by Rafale in UAE-AF.

UAE F-16s have not seen much combat operations against a capable or comparable AF. This is where block 60 could have shown its prowess. It has long range A2G weapons (even local ones) which PAF lacks.

Sooner or later, UAE will induct a 5th gen, probably inclined towards KF-21 for now. For the right price, UAE will get rid of its F-16s at some point, its not a golden baby that needs to be held on forever. Maybe 2035+.

I am sitting in a cafe with a Major who flies the Block 60. He had a nice chuckle to this post.

Now kindly bring the topic back to PAF F-16 discussions, rather than UAE F-16 content

Im glad to be of service.
Would also prefer to stick to UAE F-16s for now due to their technical specs.

Most unreliable news "source" for defence out there, but carry on pretending you know what you are talking about, it's fun to watch

The 70/72 (V is actually the upgrade if I am not mistaken) still builds on the core Block-50/52 frame.

The E/F is nearly akin to a very different beast and more so the APG-80 actually outperforms the SABR in certain niches due to power/cooling architecture. Also why the 132 is needed due to the additional weight of everything it carries which led to a higher than usual frequency of burst tires on landing for them because apparently they kept the same tires.

Here is some cool stuff on it (with some "signal-ly" stuff in there)
F-16E overview
