There was a zoomed in video showing the rig venting large amounts of gas - as a damage prevention mechanism? Ie not hit by missiles. Also Iran has said that it targeted only military sites. So this is a red herring..

Usa gives the intelligence, they spy via satellites and keep eye on launcher movements etc, the missiles also take a while to reach its target. When Russia was planning to attack Ukraine, both Ukraine and Russia denied but Usa intelligence was spot on as Russia did invade.
